Abortion should not be legal essay

In the United States and across the world, the issue of abortion has raised several debates on whether abortion should be legalized or not. The problem has received a heightened amount of discussion since the 1973 ruling on Roe v. Wade Supreme Court Case. In this case, the Supreme Court ruled a right to privacy as provided in the 14th Amendment and held that it is ultimately upon a woman to decide whether to have abortion or not. With this decision that was made in 1973, America has gone through controversial moments, and until today, the topic of abortion continues to divide America on which course is the right choice. Here, Senior tells the reader that the faith of the American majority believes that abortion is an act of killing and that her religion tells her that killers will not inherit the eternal life (Jennifer).

In this case, the author engages the reader’s spiritual perception for those who believe in God that by telling them that abortion is a sin and for those who have decided to oppose it provided it guarantees them eternal life, let them do so. Senior is confident that the younger generation of voters will oppose the legalization of abortion in the United States because they are more conversant with technology which plays a critical role in educating them where and when life starts. Senior says that the young generation’s understanding of a fetus is different from those who have never had an opportunity to use the ultrasound technology. In this case, the author says that technology is essential in the contemporary society because it is helping the community to find solutions to complex problems which would otherwise be difficult or hard to agree upon.

Although the article seems to be getting the pro-choice off the guard, the reader is given the opportunity to examine the cultural developments and recent events through the use of technology to understand that abortion is killing human beings. Here, the author instills a sense of empathy for the lost lives and makes them believe that abortion is unjust and should not be legalized. The article “Abortion: To What Extent Should Women Be Allowed Access to Abortion in the United States?” contradicts with the above sentiments of illegalizing abortion in the U. S. A by presenting different opinions on whether abortion should be made available to women or not. In this case, the author imparts a sense of empathy to women who should have achieved higher dreams in their lives, but the pro-life society forces them to bear children and raise them regardless of the conditions they will raise those children (Infobase).

Aside from that, the author creates a feeling of sorrow and compassion for women which makes readers shift their support towards supporting a legally supported abortion. This argument is further supported by a claim that obstructive abortion regulations hinder women’s role from defining their paths for a better community. Here, the author makes the reader rethink about his or her support for a regulated abortion to allow women to have a say rather than being held by restrictive laws. The author delves into pathos by telling the reader that a woman is the only person who should be allowed to make a personal decision about her health. By taking stands during this debate, the citizens also took positions leaving the nation being divided into the pro-choice and pro-life.
