Indian communities are the ones recognized across the globe to be practicing arranged marriage. Even though there are instances in which this form of marriage can be disadvantageous especially when the dowry systems lead to misunderstandings that result in bitter consequences like bride burning (Kumar and Sarita 18), the case of India reveals that there are various benefits associated with it. One of the advantages of arranged marriage is that the families of the married couple build up strong relations and this leads to children being well taken care of by the in-laws. The close ties between the paternal and maternal parents are a security of love and affection to children (Jaiswal 14). Thus, when parents die while their children are young, the parents of both their father and mother collaborate in raising the children.

This is not usually the case with arranged marriages. It has been argued that love is usually a misnomer for those who think that they love someone before getting married. The love that such people profess is usually a convoluted fabrication that veils lust. In arranged marriages, this is not usually the case because love follows such kinds of marriages by growing within the marriage. Parents are usually the best source of authority because they know the character of their child and how the child would perform in a relationship. On the other hand, arranged marriages usually begin when dull but as couples know each other, it begins to glow. One common instance in love marriages is that they are usually associated with both partners fantasizing about the wedded bliss before getting married.

This is usually the phase where it is hot. After the wedding, reality hits both partners coupled with various roles such as domestic chores, child care, and financial anxiety, which lead to the decline in romantic feelings coupled with reduced satisfaction with the relationship. This is true as evidenced by research that satisfaction in love marriages declines with time (Xiaohe and Martin King 709). In addition, the parents usually have friendly relations and they usually step in whenever their children are having challenges in their marriage. This helps in fostering understanding among the couples, which eliminates the risk of divorce. Another benefit of arranged marriage is that it is possible to ascertain suitability to a partner from different angles. With arranged marriage, one has various parameters at his or her disposal to match the candidates based on the expectations.

Parents can approach the process of searching for life mates for their children from various angles and this makes their choices a full proof and allows them to select suitable match for their children (Ingoldsby and Suzanna 139). There is also an element of mutual respect in arranged marriages. It is the elders who arrange and bless the newly wedded couples. Before the marriage, parents from both sides usually build friendships with each other and by the time their children are getting married, they have gained a sense of respect for each other. In such marriages, the couples try as much as possible to maintain this respect by handling each other with high levels of maturity. This is also an essential factor that prevents such marriages from failing (Narayanan 1). Arranged marriages usually have parental units that make early decisions for their children.

In the process, they easily detect potential problems and pitfalls that may arise with a future partner and find solutions before they engage in the process of looking for partners for their children. Parents usually use their experience in marriage to figure out whether something could go wrong and tear the marriage of their child apart. As such, they become troubleshooters before finding a match because they have an innate knowledge of the personality of their children, lifestyles and pick the best families that suit their children (Vishnu 1). Finally, arranged marriages are usually approved and endorsed by parents. com/10-advantages-and-disadvantages-of-arranged-marriage/. Ingoldsby, Bron B, and Suzanna D.
