Balancing Career and Family Life
The data shows that most people are in partnerships where both of parties involved are dealing with job pressures. Dual-career families have both their pros and cons. Some of the advantages associated with dual – career families include the following; social prestige, increased financial rewards, and depicting a high degree of career satisfaction. However, it has various challenges, for example, decreased socialization, conflicts between work and family roles, and twisted expectations. This paper explores how to balance career and family life in such situation. Double- career families will require the partners to compromise on the traditionally set gender roles. Fathers must feel free to take part in parenting and mothers should not view themselves as inadequate to undertake some necessary roles. Sharing familial responsibilities and duties is crucial in double-career families.
