Cloud computing allows the outsourcing of data storage space, processing power and software itself, and it works by allowing authorized users to access apps and file systems by logging in remotely using any device that can connect to the internet. (Anon. , 2019) In this model of service delivery, users only pay for what they consume, and it is generally moving away from the license-purchasing model. Both the software and the hosting platforms are handled by the service providers, enabling them to be constantly updated to patch any security vulnerabilities and to generate maximum performance. Extra computing power can be easily accessed on the fly in case the business experiences a spike in traffic from interested users. This unpredictability is due to varying rates for post-sales support. • Through PaaS, geographically distributed teams can collaborate on projects since the development environment is available online. • It is possible to efficiently manage the application lifecycle through the tools afforded by PaaS. These include coding, testing, deploying, managing, updating and scaling the app. Disadvantages of PaaS include: • The customer is responsible for versioning and software upgrades.
