This can happen to both the computer-based system and paper-based. A good example is the laboratory report which has the same data content whether electronics or on paper. Importance of Data Standard in Healthcare Data standardisation plays a major role in healthcare by creating a common data format which allows different healthcare providers to relate in an easy way when it comes, to using various information tools (Ahima, 2012). This practice helps hospitals, clinics and medical organisations to undertake mutual research, perform large-scale analytics and also be able to share methodologies. Data standardization in healthcare enables improved quality and safe health outcome to the patients. Standardisation of data in health care play a major role in enhancing security in regards to personal health information privacy policy and storage to enable protection of this data from theft and data breaches (Phair, 2012).
