Democracy Rollback in Canada Question: How and why is democracy being rolled back in Canada? Democracy rollback in Canada mainly touches on the issue of the treatment of the aboriginal people of Canada. Therefore, Canada is yet to make reasonable steps in the advances of the freedoms and rights of the aboriginal people. This could be a major contributor to the low turnout during elections. This is mainly because they may not feel a sense of ownership to a country that they have faced an immeasurable number of atrocities in the past.

According to Grimm (2017), Turkey is one of the countries where freedom of the press is continuously eroded. The move by the Turkish government to crush any form of freedom of expression is partly a result of the failed coup (Grimm, 2017). This may have led to the ruling party to adopt stringent measures to prevent such an event from happening again. However, in Canada, the exclusion and oppression is mainly focused on a specific group of people, the aboriginal people of Canada. In all the three countries, democracy is being rolled back and a more autocratic form of government instilled. References Abramowitz, M.
