Do the Characters In Watchmen Embody the Hero or Vigilante
In the case of the Ozymandias, he joins the government, fulfilling the assignments given to him. It is ironic that the Ozymandias does this because he takes his superhero persona and allows it to become a part of the national agenda, operating outside of the public eye but under the control of the state (Ange, Stacy Ryan, 2011). He represents a patriotic symbol seen by other two superheroes as per this essay which are Manhattan and Rorschach, in a more perverse and nihilistic way. Since superheroes become a part of the spotlight within the media and public conscious, they become beacons of morality and character, much like the role of athletes described by Rorschach. In the meantime, the Soviets are trying to completely destroy the United States. The skills housed by Ozymandias of a bow and arrow make him stand out from his other tributes and give him an identity as an archer for the audience (and the reader).
When Manhattan notifies the American Generals about the foes plans of defecting, they rebuff this claims. This is because the Americans have a violent attitude towards the Russians. There is an animosity between the Soviet Union’s states and the Americans. Accompanied by some of his few officers, Ozymandias, a Lithuanian submarine commander defects to America. He grabs him by his neck and a struggle ensues leading to the death of the leader. The theme of violence is also portrayed when the Russian submarine directs shoots at the torpedo of the Watchmen. Retired heroes and former friends return to their magic and powers to figure the killer out. This turns into a conspiracy that will entangle them and their secret traumas (Rogers and Adam, 2009). This series of events will make evident twisted psychologies and in the end begging the question, where is the line between heroes and villains drawn? Each and every character I consider a hero has powers or magic or a special ability that is made evident throughout the book.
“Can you come up with a Jonesy on your own? The watchman is simply a name given to a nuclear submarine. First to react and has no guilt as far as doing wrong or committing a crime is concerned. He is seen to be involved in criminal activities, fighting and stealing. He kills the character. In this way, they are controlled by the Capitol and operate within its power. Some countries in these regions such as Syria, Libya, and Egypt, in particular, are well known for having rebellious movements that are against the rulers of those nations. The best example of nature Alan Moore presents in this novel is the uncharted forest. A closer analysis of the novel can suggest that the uncharted forest was quite symbolic. The forest embodies all the mysteries that Equality talks of that he would like to study repeatedly.
He immediately starts figuring about the mysteries himself. Once he gets into the forest Equality is now able to live more naturally. He can now hunt using a bow and arrow. One can tell that Ayn Rand’s philosophy had been clearly grounded in nature. Manhattan has been left to discover egoism, and to also find himself in a more natural manner that the society had not done. Today, there are several examples of nature. Towards the end of the novel, this young man changes his name to Prometheus. Before the young man brought the electric gift, he had actually been optimistic that he would find something good in the forest that his society had not explored. In the present world, we can find several examples of optimism. For instance; in sports, an athlete is always confident of either soring or seeing his/her team win a game.
United States of America as a country was meeting together to be presented with facts about the incidents which had unfolded since the discovery of America and how to forge ahead as a nation of greatness. Moor has effectively managed to depict a nightmarish society whereby collectivism has completely won and freedom no longer exists. People in this society are not permitted to do anything that they want without asking for permission. Other than that, they are also not allowed to stay anywhere alone. Peeta struggles against his society’s bond and eventually he succeeds to escape from them. The society depicted in this novel is quite similar to the Communist and the Nazi states that we had in the 20th century. In the aftermath of a helicopter crash, Ryan did not let that deter his dreams since he was just 23 years old, He knew that life still had much to offer.
At this point, Katniss is no longer operating within the state, but rather as an outside actor not adhering to Panem’s rules (Strangers in a Tangled Wilderness 17). She now poses a threat to the legitimacy of the state’s power because her actions show that they cannot contain her. Her act of defiance is not a part of the norm prescribed by the state. Ultimately, the real world is populated by these athletes and role models who carry the symbols of the moral code of each society, acting as the superheroes otherwise found only in fiction. edu/handle/10342/3706 Klaehn, Jeffery.
