Effectiveness of communication
Document Type:Application Essay
Subject Area:Management
Verbal communication involves active listening from both parties. Communicators need to continuously strive to understand non-verbal signals in order to gather maximum information. For effective communication, eye contact should be maintained (Walton et al 2016). This is a way of motivating the speaker to keep talking. It is also important for speakers to be mindful of the language they use. It is a less formal structure and may involve department heads, employees and even supervisors in different departments. This form of communication may be in form of e-mails, memos, teleconferencing, and teleconferencing. Vertical communication, on the other hand, is a more formal way of communication. It involves an exchange of information between different levels of management (Walton et al 2016). A good example of this method of communication is the exchange of information between an employee and a department head.
