Effects of Abortion
The United States has been identified to amongst the countries with the highest rates of abortion regardless of whether they are prescribed or not. This may be as a result of the fact that some states in the country have opted to come up with a policy framework supporting the procedure in question. Although a majority of such policies exists, a considerable number of activist groups have been formulated log the years with the aim of addressing the irregularities associated with abortion-related practices. For instance, religious groups, such as Christian, believe abortion should be abolished as it is contrary to biblical teachings whereas pro-abortionists believe that certain scenarios propagate the need of carrying out an abortion. Similarly, some artists have also seen the need of addressing issues of abortion through their respective artistic fields.
The issue of abortion is a real problem that affects not only women and girls but also the entire society. The Supreme Court, on the other hand, has been able to legalize abortion in 50 states in the U. S. although this practice has been added to the human rights policies. Some of these states have opted to come up with a range of regulations restricting the activity hence making it somewhat difficult for those willing to take part in it. To the father, he urges him to take care of the mother to the child and support allow for women’s rights, not the living but also the unborn. His message also to the mother is that she is carrying beautiful life. He urges the mother not to terminate the life given to her to take care of.
Trip Lee tells the young lovers that even though they are young, scared and had not in their plans intended their actions to result in conception; he urges them to take heart, not to feel discouraged or ashamed at all but stay strong. He describes the features of the baby as a way to bring out the reality of the situation as well as make them understand the importance of the child that they have conceived. Additionally, Lee uses pathos to connect with the audience emotionally. For example, in verse 3, the author categorically states that “I know it hurts to your core, that guilt that's weighing you down” as a way of sharing the problem with the audience. Further, Trip Lee delivers the message by calling his target audience in a way that they are more accustomed to and in fact relate with.
Lee calls them “homie” as a way to make them feel that they are the intended audience and that he understands them. Trip Lee makes the affected people feel the connection by telling them that he knows how it feels too in a situation like one that they are in. Moreover, abortion could easily lead some women and girls to substance use and abuse. Studies show that not all women who undergo abortion suffer from depression and opt to use drugs to relieve the stress (Pepper 56). For instance, some of the victims may choose to use hard drugs as a way of creating distractions to the anxiety they are undergoing. The effect of using hard drugs to relieve pain and forget the abortion experience is important and needs to be solved because it destroys the health of the addicts.
The second example of substance abuse is that it makes women and girls feel better and justify the act of abortion. However, deprivation of that chance to survive till birth due to abortion denies society the chance to experience the contribution that this individual would have had. Not to forget that due to alteration of the natural process set in motion some of the women that procure abortions end up being barren. As a result, therefore, they deprive themselves the joy of the kid that the victim had conceived and the addition the joy of ever having to hold a baby of their own in their hands. Abortion is one of the social problems that affect women and the society in various ways such as post-abortion syndrome, substance abuse, post-abortion barrenness as well as breast cancer.
This issue is significant and needs to be solved because it damages marriages and relationships, the sexual life of the victims and neglecting of responsibilities that affect the progress of the society.
