Elements of neoclassicism

Each epistle has a different theme that preserves the nature and the inner socialization perspectives in human being. In the first epistle, pope digs much on the relations and interactions that surrounds human beings and the universe. The next epistle he surveys and discusses humans as individuals, on the third epistle he heightens his discussion by surveying the relationship between individuals and the society. The last epistle he questions the responsiveness of the individual for happiness. When analyzing his works, he describes the order of the universe in terms of hierarchy or a chain of being. In his works, he contribute by deducing that everything happens for the best and due to the believe in existence of a supreme being, man should not presume to question Gods greatest works. This is because human beings are part of Gods design and therefore cannot easily understand the works of God.
In addition, he puts that humans do not poses the intellectual and the capability that comprehends Gods plans and his daily operations. This makes his argument be subjected to the universe of fatalism hence seen as the first element. He expands his arguments by putting it across that everything that exists in the universe was planned divinely and played a role that is supposed to be as planned before. This is because he attempts to gain more knowledge and pretends to be greater perfection and this leads them to have a root of error and live a miserable life. The attempt of placing himself or comparing himself to God by judging perfection and justice makes him to act impiously (Habib, M. A. R. The unreasonableness of man’s complains against providence shows that through fatalism, he will have to live a miserable life spiritually but through the physical world, a universal order and gradation is observed.
Self-love is concerned mostly with contract that surrounds family, government and religion. Self-love plays another role of governing the rate of actions that are in human beings while love governs the universe and binds the disparate elements. The self-love that pope describes especially in the second epistle is contractual love which creates a building block that separates gods design and the chain of being, just like the way atoms are attracted to each other this shows that through self-love, the relationship of humans to passions and nature are symbiotic where both element benefit (Gale, Cengage Learning, 75). There are some effects that instincts and reason have on Gods creation since all creatures have instincts or reason and they tend to compete for supremacy which contradicts to the role of hierarchy. It is evident that instincts are usually incorporated with beasts while reasoning is majorly used to serve man’s best interest.
Reasoning should be incorporated in order to make the changes be more effective. The belief of hierarchy and the order of the society is hard to understand and this is answered through religious beliefs of existence of a supreme being who is beyond human understandings and hence man cannot find some answers in the universe. The imitation of other creatures in battling for supremacy has brought to changes since it has changed the classical ways to modern sedentary living. Cited works Gale, Cengage Learning.
