Some of the crucial elements of EMS that are found in most Environmental Management Systems are inter-related. The first element is the environmental policy which constitutes the top management’s declaration to protect and maintain the environment. This declaration serves as a foundation of environmental concern by the whole organization. One thing to consider is that the policy should relate to the company’s products and services. It is also essential for the objectives and targets of an organization to be established in line with the company policy, as well as, the environmental policy.
