Besides, quality of action research depends on whether the problem being addressed arises from the need for transformation within the community. Research based on formal knowledge gap cannot be considered quality action research materials. This essay analyses the quality of action research titled “who wants to die here? Perspectives of prisoners with chronic conditions”. This research was aimed at solving the problem of prisoners consuming end-of-life care by giving them what they want during their sicknesses. This research addresses the problem of giving prisoners what they desire during their critical times of death. Additionally, nurses, who are regularly involved in care for people facing end-of-life, conduct this research. The professionals aimed at acquiring knowledge on how best they can offer their services to prisoners.
The research has encouraged the participation of the prison community by directly involving them in interviewing respondents. Additionally, the authors of the research collected information by interviewing inmates who had a high probability of consuming the end-of-life care. Additionally, the researchers did not just get information from one prison. Data analysis was carried out as an iterative process; it co-occurred with data collection so that no slight information was missed. However, the researchers did not extend their research to find out the opinion of prisoners who were in prisons already offering hospice care, which is a limitation of this study. At the end of the research, the authors come up with ideas to solve the problem they applied. The research process was a long one, involving more than one individual.
