EXPERIMENTS ON HUMANS FOR MILITARY PURPOSES
Many countries are for these experiments so that they can acquire more military manpower and resources to protect them in cases of war or attacks. Though some of these practiced experiments are based strongly in chemicals and science, some are as dangerous and have not only resulted in messed human DNA and organs but to the extent of death1. Some of the commonly used chemicals on human military experiments include Plutonium, Uranium, Nerve gases, and ESP, this chemical usually react vigorously with the body cells and in some cases have even led to the insanity of the victims. While some of these tests seem outlandish in the hindsight, military schools in some countries still continue to push for these experiments and seek new warfare procedures and techniques which are based on technology and cutting-edge science.
The reason why I choose this particular topic is because it is quite relevant in the modern world. These two countries have been actively researching and experimenting humans especially soldiers so that they can improve their systems in order to create soldiers who are resistance to some environmental conditions. For instance, according to a report by the Express, China has greatly invested in controversial genetics research and development experiments at a high rate which is quite worrying4. According to the report over it is revealed that for the last three years approximately 87 people have undergone those experiments which are secretively conducted. The experiments often involve surgeries which dramatically alter their genes in the communist state, however, besides information indicating that the subjects’ immune have greatly improved there is no evidence to whether the experiments have been successfully performed or not.
According to the report, the Chinese doctors have selectively edited the human DNA of cells inside the individual’s bodies and replaced them with stronger and stable genetics. A particular element called Plutonium is of concern and has made many countries to carry out experiments since this particular chemical can be used in nuclear wars. Numerous human experiments on radiation have been carried out not only in the United States but also in many other countries, many of these experiments have majorly been funded by the USA government and the United States Atomic Energy Commission8. Some of these experiments carried out are strived at establishing how the military can gain more knowledge of this particular element which can be used at their advantage especially because of wars by super powerful countries.
Some of the carried experiments include: exposing prisoners and soldiers to high levels of radiation in secluded areas, irradiating prisoners’ testicles which have caused severe birth defects and by exhuming dead bodies to test for radiation in their remains9. Some of the experiments were carried out in the year 1945 in both Washington and Oregon when most patients in hospitals and prisoners in jails were injected with Plutonium without their consent. The nature of these experiments involved a lot of highly controversial and was aimed at operating a wartime mentality. These secrecy in human experiments have continuously continued up to date with experiments being conducted to the knowledge of a few individuals. For instance, the Manhattan project which involved human experimentations on radioactive materials and elements such as Uranium and Plutonium was highly secretive and was referred by code names only.
Another good example is the shipments of both Uranium and Plutonium in hospitals in Washington and Oregon, reports have it that physicians themselves were not aware of the substances they had been issued to inject patients with12. The compartmentalization of this particular project makes it difficult for individuals and reporting stations to trace these chains of commands surrounding these human experiments. For instance, the military can use human experiments in testing certain drugs or chemicals which are later going to be used in the field by soldiers13. Lastly, human experiments can help replicate natural settings with a much faster speed. When scientists are conducting experiments in the laboratories it becomes possible for them to replicate conditions that might take longer within normal conditions. This enables scientists to create and develop certain drugs which slightly alter the normal functioning of the soldiers’ bodies to their advantage.
For instance, scientists may develop a drug which is resistant to radioactive materials which are harmful to human bodies. The experiments include injection of individuals with certain radioactive elements such as Uranium and Plutonium, exposure of individuals to certain chemicals and biological weapons, human radiations experiments and surgical experiments such as KX-338. Many of these experiments are usually conducted on mentally disabled children and adults, volunteers, and prisoners in jails. Particularly, funding of these experiments is usually done by the states’ governments and other relevant organizations. While some of these tests seem outlandish in the hindsight, military schools in some countries still continue to push for these experiments and seek new warfare procedures and techniques which are based on technology and cutting-edge science Bibliography Brandon, Esther FA, Christiaan D.
