How they developed in the story. The essay will go further to analyze the importance of the events which takes place in the lives of the above-mentioned characters. They both lived in a rental house in Tribeca. Because Corrine is jobless and Russel has also stopped the work he was doing, they literally become broke. The couples lose the taste of love in the relationship until Corrine tries to mark the number of times they have hugged on the calendar just like she marks her periods which are not appearing frequently as before. On the other hand, Luke McGavock is a rich man, at the start of the story he is not at work because he is having off from work. Corrine is being generous and offers Luke a bottle of water. On top of the bottle, Corrine also offers Luke a bottle containing Evian ("Summary" 12). Both of the two are bereaved because they have lost their friends. Even though they have both lost their friends, Luke seems to be more traumatized by the incident than Corrine. He also feels too much guilt about the occurrence. Corrine has common friends with Luke. The screenplay which Corrine was writing is about related to the Heart of the Matter ("Summary" 17). Luke had a daughter who was 14 years. The daughters' name was Ashley. He longs for the life in the city due to the pleasure he got from there. At long last, both the couples decide to resume the normal life they had before in the city. The two families decide to organize a dinner in the city. The party resembles the one that was organized earlier but there are some significant changes because some people who were present in the earlier party perished in the attack. Some of Corrine friends she met at the soup kitchen attend the party. At the center of the venue, Luke glances at his wife Sasha moving towards where he was standing and on the other hand he surprisingly notices Corrine who was only five feet on the left of his hands.
Luke realizes the beauty of Russel family looked from a distance range. He remembers the advice that his mother gave me that allowed him to let his relationship with Corrine go. The families bump into one another and the two who had an affair before feel embarrassed for what they termed as lies between them. Luke is hoping that he will meet in the city again with Corrine. This vent is therefore important because It initiates the meeting between Luke and Corrine. It marks the first meeting of the two. Another important event in the novel is conflict in both families. In the family of Russel, the house becomes too small to fit them with the twins. Corrine proposes that they move from Manhattan where they were staying so they can move to Brooklyn or even to Pelham.
After sharing their family stories they feel their families are jading. It is at this point that the two couples deeply fall in love. Through sharing of the stories and knowing about one another, they found out that they shared a lot together and this was the driving factor that bonded them to fall in love.
