Knowing is sexy campaign is passing the message of encouraging HIV awareness, prevention, and testing. HIV is a serious pandemic disease affecting the lives of everyone in society irrespective of age and gender. One significant step of solving a challenge often arise from having prior information on the challenge including the likely course and the preferable solution. Knowing is sexy therefore create awareness of the HIV causes, and impacts on humanity, highlighting the vulnerable persons in the society and persons under the risk of contracting the disease. The campaign also highlights the preventive measures that can be enforced to reduce the spread of HIV and limit the new infection incidence. The second objective of the campaign is to prevent the spread of HIV and reduce the prevalence among nations.

Lastly, the campaign aims at testing the population for HIV aids with the aim of establishing the population in need of HIV prevention interventions. The social media platform was used to enhance the propagation of knowing is sexy campaign. Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram was the key social media platform used for the campaign. One may ask, why the use of social media? The use of social media in a campaign is effective because of the convenient cost and the wider coverage. The technique of persuasion used in the campaign was the use of photographs posted in social media to pass the message of HIV AIDS awareness, prevention, and testing. The words ‘knowing is sexy’ are written with larger fonts particularly ‘knowing’ and ‘sexy’ to enumerate their significance.

When one gets into social media, the two words draw their attention to know what the site describes as sexy. The words are then followed by the love symbol drawing more attention of the people on the sexy thing that present love. After drawing the attention with such magnificent writing, the more exceptional details then explain everything that it is a campaign geared at creating HIV awareness, prevention, and testing. Not all campaigns are accepted positively by everyone. Knowing is sexy campaign has been opposed with many people who claim that knowledge can never be sexy. The notion that what you don’t cannot harm you has been used occasionally when it comes to knowing one's HIV status. Fear and panic accompanied by the result often make people fear to screen for identification of the HIV status.

The rate of deaths has been reported, as people take away their lives to avoid the stress and challenges linked to being positive. The result of the campaign focus on the achievement of reducing HIV prevalence across the world. The key strength of the campaign is that it highlights the roadmap of dealing with HIV prevalence across the populations in the world. The campaign gives a plan of creating awareness on HIV disease, highlighting its causes to the public, the effects and the probable solution that can be put in place to reduce the scorching impact of HIV AIDS. The campaign also promotes testing and screening among the persons affected and infected with HIV AIDS. The weakness of the campaign, however, is that it does not delineate the best course of action that can be taken to encourage people to know their HIV status since there is always fear exhibited by people when it comes to screening HIV status.
