This paper, therefore, discusses the topic of education and explains the related concepts as well as the challenges in the 21st Century. Philosophy statement My philosophy of education is that it should be a process that promotes equity and development in the society. Schooling, therefore, is meant to ensure that individuals have the knowledge and skills that they need to take up different roles that seek to spur development while ensuring that there is an improvement in equity in various communities. Community members can only be able to take up leadership positions if they have requirements to occupy those positions. In case other people do not have the skills needed for various jobs, they are likely to lag behind. That further stresses the importance of education as far as equity is concerned (Lodge, 2014).

Socrates also speaks about the philosophy of education. According to him, there are two types of knowledge. The first one is ordinary knowledge and the second one is the definitive one. He mentions the fact that the purpose of education is to ensure that individuals can lead good lives based on ethics and morals. I believed that by obtaining a formal education and getting a formal job, I would be respected member of my society in the future. The fact that education should be about equity was evident during my elementary years when we were always encouraged to be in uniform when in school and had to take similar meals and do several things together. That indicated the fact that the school administration or the developers of curriculum expected that we learn to be just and to have respect for other individuals in the society.

The stress on ethical behavior was also one of the attributes that my Alma matter majored on during my early years in school. Because of these reasons, my history in the previous levels of studying reflected my educational philosophy which was based on coming up with an equitable society. It aims at equipping students with critical thinking skills that can enable them to acquire civic liberties, individual freedom, as well as various responsibilities. Perennialism describes the aim of schooling to be the acquisition of an understanding of different ideas of civilization. The proponents of this theory believe that with the ideas and skills, the students can be developed into people who are capable of handling different issues in the current world.

This philosophy also has an impact on my understanding of education and shaped up my philosophy. That is because it made me believe that the main aim of education is based on the fact that it equips individuals with skills for taking care of existing problems in the society (Matusov & Marjanovic-Shane, 2016). That expands the scope of knowledge. In addition, technology has improved the interactions between individuals and globalization which promotes diversity and that is important in the learning and development in other educational aspects that complement academic knowledge. My philosophy for education answers the need for education in the 21st Century. That is because it encourages holistic education that promotes justice and equity in various spheres of life. That is because, in this century, education should be used as a tool for reducing inequalities in the society and to promote parity across all fields.
