The cartoons, caricature the other widely used types of satire may at some incidences distort or overemphasize on the specific physical traits of the person. In some forms of political parody, the creator may choose to immortalize the individuals in question. The importance of political parody supersedes the lighthearted representation of the comic content. For example, some political cartoons have been a reason for political debates. When such happens, it shows how important the cartoons are in shaping the views of the society concerning an issue. It shows how the comedy brought out by parody brings out laughter which in turn leads to education through rhetoric. It is also crucial in the understanding of the role played by political parody in passing political messages.

The results from the report show that this political ideology has an influence on the processing of political messages which makes them biased. From the report, we see that the individual level of personal political opinions predicted the perceptions in the Colbert’s political ideologies. It is seen that Colbert offers political statements in a funny manner which some interpret that he was only pretending to be joking. The media in the United States has paid adequate attention to the role of comedy when it comes to the general culture of a country after the tragedies of 9/11. The purpose of this essay is to analyze the comic response to the events of 9/11 focusing on the response from the print media and also those from online news providers. This essay is, therefore important in my study about the use of comedy and other forms of parody in politics and the role it plays in the society as a whole. This is a book that discuses the general theory behind political caricature. The author acknowledges that there are not enough studies that have been done to support the idea that political cartooning is a major form of communication.

It has suffered neglect over the years because as the writer claims, it lies in an area where many fields of study meet and is therefore not a major focus. The situation is worsened by the absence of detailed studies to show the nature and magnitude of political cartoons. This is important in my study since it is helpful in understanding the role played by political cartooning and the challenges that it faces. This is a book that explores the advantages and disadvantages of satirical humor. It uses primary rhetoric to express its message. It argues that due to the polyvalent nature of satire, its use in completely changing a perception about a certain position or idea is unpredictable.
