While the problem has been a persistent menace, it has drawn more attention in recent years due to technological advancements, which has come with new techniques that enable people to share unwarranted materials. Such technological developments include the internet, mobile, and cell phone devices as well as social media platforms. Most adults tend to ignore the existence of bullying and regard it as a normal stage that children have to encounter. However, bullying is a real challenge that has entrenched challenges. While policy design and implementation can be instrumental in addressing the problem of bullying, its viability can only be adopted by a few public schools. Therefore, practical measures involving parents, children, teachers and the school would prove more effective in addressing the bullying problem. One of the practical techniques of addressing school bullying entails the use of inclusive classroom discussions. According to Wallace (2012), classroom discussion concerning the motivation and the effects of bullying would help prepare students and also enhance their self-awareness. There is a need for children to understand that bullies are just their fellow kids who might have experienced bullying at one stage in their school time. Moreover, the bullies also show aggressive behavior in an endeavor to revenge experience (Wallace, 2012). Making children understand that bullies are indeed children without power and with low self-esteem would make them change their perception concerning the superiority of school bullies. Moreover, bullies try to improve their self-esteem by staying around other children who they can easily manipulate and control, children who are vulnerable to security threats.

Essentially, children who undergo bullying experience terrible emotional torture. Therefore, the classroom education would assist children in making positive decisions that would enable them help schools in eliminating bullying. While teachers often tend to point out bad behaviors from students, there is a need for the adoption of the Good Behavior Game that would enable schools to reward good classroom behaviors during instructional times. Many do not seem to reinforce decent behavior since nature expects good conduct from an individual, especially a minor. However, assuming the anticipated good behavior is indeed a problem itself. Identifying an ethical behavior, especially in children would help acknowledge as well as support the particular behavior to be part of the child’s system. With some kind of recognition and appreciation, the child is likely to continue with the positive behavior.

Again, reinforcement of good deeds would serve to offer students precise expectation concerning what is expected positively. Private talks would make students share things that they might feel shy to reveal before the whole class. Setting the stage for one-on-one communication would help lower the rate of bullying in U. S. public schools. The adequate and operational reporting system is also essential in addressing the issue of bullying. Communication with parents concerning their child’s behavior whether they are perpetrators or victims of bullying can sometimes be a hard task (Hughes et al. Building rapport with parents is an important activity for teachers and the school staff. Parent engagement should not only be in times of crisis but would also convey information concerning the student’s academic performances, choice of friends, character as well as attitudes while in school can help address behavior concerns.

Collectively, parents and teachers can design and implement a reliable technique that would help introduce productive and desirable behaviors. As a result, the message is more likely to stick in the child’s mentality and can assist them to identify bullying activities and the bullies themselves. Such an environment would pass from generation to generation and become a culture in the school, the culture of love and harmony. Besides, before commencing classes, teachers are an endeavor to lead the students or kids in prayers to enable them to realize the teachings and importance of biblical stories. Such conditions would encourage friendship among students (Cohn-Vargas, 2015). Similarly, the school’s culture should encourage students to practice more of role-playing with a model that would enable young people to adopt interventions and speak up for themselves and others.

The teacher should assist the youth in developing effective ways of rejecting negative information on the internet. Therefore, for effective control and eradication of bullying in schools, practical involvement from the parents, teachers, schools, and students would help build a friendly culture in the schools’ systems. School bullying, therefore, is the worst kind of violence because it involves kids and teenagers who have not yet completely developed cognitive abilities and judgment abilities. Current research has reported that there are over 3. million students who are victims of bullying every year. It has been reported that most students injure or commit suicide due to the bullying. Some other students miss school to avoid the bullies that lead to increased rate of dropouts. About 16% of American students report having been bullied about 3 to 4 times in an academic semester. According to, 2 in 10 bullied students are bullied daily whereas 1 in 5 is bullied twice a month. American youths need to know that violence is not the way of solving everything. They should be taught what to do when they find someone trying to bully them or when they find someone being bullied. Girls are mostly associated with verbal aggressors such as gossips whereas boys are mostly associated with physical aggressors such as sex abuse and beatings among others. Bullying in the school s mainly as a result of some students who lack particular abilities that identify them as being popular or outstanding in the school setting such as academic success or extra curriculum activities that make others take advantage of their weaknesses. Saarento, pg. states that students who are popularized by their success in activities pertaining school performance think that they are superior to those who remain unnoticed thus making them the target of the bully. The bullied students develop low self-esteem and negative self-perception that may be harmful to their mental health.

Zych, pg. claims that affected students may develop depression that would make them prone to committing suicide. At times, the bullies may be unconscious that they are harming the victim. Some bully also is ridden by their psychological distresses in a way that they aim at passing it to others within a school setting. Most of the students who bully others are influenced by their hazard background, hormones and negative influences by their social media. Therefore, they incur their negative feeling son their fellow students to make them feel the difference in social lineage. They should be watchful of their children’s childhood development and assist them to understand the causes of aggressive and negative behaviors and their consequences they would cause to them. Parents and teachers should monitor children reactions towards situations that would make them feel insecure so that they would be able to develop an appropriate plan taking actions in such instances.

Bullying also involves social alienation where a group of students may alienate their colleague from a group thus making the victim develop bad feeling towards them. Some other bullying may involve unexplained body languages such as punching, kicking and hitting among others which are negative body languages that result to unexplained injuries, damaged personal property, evasion of school and other social circumstances. Moreover, there is verbal bullying that involves offensive remarks, making jokes about someone’s race, religion, gender, social status and their physical appearance. They also get exposed to the susceptibility of committing suicide that is as a result of depression. On the other hand, bullies feel disconnected from school and perceive their actions as superior thus developing a powerful sense of independence. Moreover, these students are more prone to violence such as an argument with their parents, school dropouts, and damaging schools properties.

Zych, pg. says that students who witness bullying feel that their life is at risk of being bullied thus reluctant to attending school and reluctant to take action due to fear of retaliation by the bullies. It has been reported that most bullying activities such as physical harassment mainly take place in those areas such as garden yards. Saarento, pg. suggests that schools should reduce the time students spend unsupervised such as lunchtimes, recess and subject change time. Reduction of time will minimize the opportunities that bullies have to incur harm on other students. Furthermore, the school should ensure that bullies are occupied during their resting time by assigning them light duties such as supervising certain areas where bullying is likely to take place such as tutoring others or involve them in sports.
