The four main reasons for conducting animal tests are to broaden their understanding of the scientific nature of animals, to use them as instruments to understand a disease, to develop cures for the diseases and to ensure that people are safe before consuming anything new. In such a case, the scientists use the animals of their choice. This helps them come up with a solution as to why humans contracted an animal disease. Different birds are injected with different types of drugs in order to determine the one that works in a short while. After monitoring, how different types of chemicals work on them they then monitor the side effects and determine whether to release the treatment to the public or not. Using specific animals in the United States may be free but getting them uses up almost every resource a person has. Ebola is a deadly virus that kills the people affected within the shortest time possible. A researcher may decide to introduce this virus to an animal hoping that it will get better and respond to the treatment accordingly. If not handled with caution the Ebola virus may affect the researcher once it is released to the air. It is followed by monitoring the animal closely and offering the required treatment, food and proper care in order to keep the rodent alive. Other expenses are incurred in this stage since feeding the rodent is not as easy as feeding a human being. Finally developing the `medicine that will help this rodent recover may take some time and consume a lot of money.

The rodents may fail to survive through the journey due to the pain it is put through (Humane Society International, 2018). If it dies as the test are being conducted then, the research begins it over again and use more money. Research shows that using humans in food testing is more reliable compared to using animals (Murnaghan, 2018). Some foods do not need testing since the production process is hygienic and the products used are all fit for human consumption. People may think that using animals to test the efficiency of food is the easiest test animals are involved in. However, that is not the case since some animals are forced to consume the foods against their wish. This causes them pain and trauma after the entire process. Animals go through painful moments since most of them lack self-defense mechanisms or are locked up to avoid attacking the researchers during the tests.

They also have no representatives to fight for their rights. Animals especially rodents are the biggest victims of animal testing. They may appear small but they deserved to be free just like the other animals. All researchers should consider the option of being more cautious in their work in order to deliver quality products that do not require animal testing (McMillan, 2015). The key to a world where animals and humans enjoy the same rights and equality is treasuring the animals and respecting their nature. If the world loses a certain breed of animals then the ecosystem will be imbalanced and all living things will suffer. The money allocated to the research and tests should be diverted to balancing nature, which will provide a healthier environment and the spread, and development of incurable diseases will reduce.
