Problems and Solution Facing Our Environment

The main reason for environmental damage is the high population which pollutes a lot, uses a lot and dumps a lot of waste on the environment. Another reason is that over the past 200 years, human activity has changed a lot; humans have moved from just being farmers to building production industries and machines that use a lot of natural resources and pollutes air and rivers (Crone). If people don’t act to decrease the rate of environmental damage, the future generation will pay heavily for the consequences. The main initiative that should be taken to save the environment is to reuse, reduce and recycle materials that can cause disastrous effects if consumed excessively. The most worrying problem is air and water pollution that is caused by the release of toxic gases and waste to the rivers.

People would also move in the same direction in an attempt to reduce carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide emissions (Kowarsch et al. p190). With a common goal, people will also need to agree on more specific goals like safer ways of storing harmful waste, producing energy without polluting and depleting the environmental resources and finding ways to reduce the amount of waste production. In addition to agreeing on these specific goals, all nations should negotiate on what out to be done and how the goals can be accomplished. This would help the national leaders to focus on conserving the environment in their respective countries. By applying the education about the importance of a healthy environment, people can do everything in their power to conserve natural resources and make plans on the things that should be done to reduce pollution.

As a way to make the initiative of recycling resources work, the government can research about ways to recycle and reuse resources. It can also give tax incentives to organizations and people that want to start a recycling business. Another way to solve the depletion problem is to use alternative resources that are renewable and environmentally friendly. For example, instead of relying on fossil fuel and coal as the primary sources of energy, the government could use better ways like use of wind, water, and air (Kowarsch et al. The government should also be a role model in the fight against environmental damage. Government officials should use vehicles that do not consume too much oil and use recycled papers. The government should also enforce laws that prohibit industries and people from activities that are dangerous to the environment.

Heavy penalties should be imposed on the individuals and organizations found guilty of disobeying these environmental conservation laws. The solution to prevent depletion of resources cannot work if the world population is still increasing at an alarming rate. The two main reasons that have led to environmental damage are a drastic increase in human population and change in human activities over the last two centuries. When coming up with a solution, people should think about the long-term effect of the solution that will favor even the coming generations (Hausknost, p367). The most important thing is to educate people about the importance of environmental conservation and the effects of environmental damage. The main solution to environmental damage is government intervention. The government can intervene by formulating laws, providing incentives to industries that recycle waste and acting as an example to the general public.
