However, there are also other factors apart from economic status that affects the decision concerning abortions. The decisions of any girl to consider an abortion depends on how her social environment has influenced her thoughts and perceptions about considering aborting. This research involves aims at establishing the reasons why women choose to abort. The survey involved 179 girls between the age of 14 to 19 years old to asses the of effects of the environment on people’s decisions concerning abortion. The research expects to show that it is the friends and parents that either directly or indirectly on the decisions of the girls concerning abortions. The psychosocial aspects are very crucial for understanding the drive that motivates most teenagers to opt for abortion.

Previous researches on abortion mainly focus on the aspects of socioeconomic factor as the cause of abortions (Pereira, Pires, & Canavarro, 2017). Researchers attribute the interaction between social factors and the economic factors as the major reason why any women chooses to abort. In this case, most women consider their economic status and the capability for supporting the child s a major reason to opt for keeping the. In America, most of the girls that abort cite that they do not have the financial ability to support the child. The major flaw of this theory is that it does not consider the pre-abortion psychological status of the girl in questions. The mental status of the girl before opting to abort influences whether she should undergo the procedure or rejects it.

Therefore, this approach to establishing the reason behind an abortion is inconclusive. In this study, the major aim is to establish how the psychosocial aspect of a girls will influence the choice a girl. The basic idea behind psychosocial studies is the interactions between the social component and the thoughts and behavior of an individuals. Friend, in this case, occupy the position of peer influencers. Research shows that over fifty percent of all the decisions made by teenagers concerning abortion is largely influence by the advice given by their friends (Pereira, Pires, & Canavarro, 2017). In most cases, pregnant teenagers find their peer the most approachable people to provide advice concerning abortion. On the other hand, the partners of the teenager also play an important role in influencing the decisions of the teenage girls to abort.

The response of the partners to the information concerning the pregnancy is very crucial in determining the decisions on abortions. This theory explains the stages of development of an individual with the social influence playing a central role (Pereira, Pires, & Canavarro, 2017). Erikson divided his developmental theory into eight distinctive stages in the lifespan of an individuals. The fifth stage explains the development process of the girls under study in this research. This stage is known as Identity versus Confusion occur between the ages of 12 to 19 years old. The crucial element in this stage is identity ego. The level of educations of the girls involved include the students in senior high school and those form the colleges. The research involved 179 girls from nine difference states across America.

All of the participants in the study were under pre-abortion counseling in different states. The main criteria used for selecting the participants was to ensure that they were pregnant and they were between the stipulated ages. Furthermore, the research considered a mandatory requirement that abortion was legal in the states which the girls reside. This research aims at exploring how a girl will make a decision by focusing on how the environment influences her thoughts. The research specifically uses comparative descriptive design in comparing the dependent variables. The research design will compared the decisions of aborting and the decisions not to abort depending on the independent variables in the research (Asselmann et al. The research design in this study also involves cross-sectional study carried out within a six months.

Cross sectionals research design allows the researcher to establish instant research outcomes of the study. For example, one of my close friends has abort, respond “true” or “false”.
