Most organization and government agencies have undertaken significant steps to implement modalities that counter cyber-attacks since they pose an imminent threat to national security and financial loss if critical personal information lands on criminal individuals. The rising concern of terrorism makes the threat to attack more pronounced especially the possibility of using the information to undermine the social order and economic profitability of the business that plays an integral role in enhancing the national economy. A significant attack that has been popular in modern society is the use of social media platforms to propagate a certain political philosophy which undermines the dictates of democracy. The vulnerabilities in the civil society and societal agencies is the failure to develop a regulatory framework that imposes checks and balances on institutions such as Facebook that has access to lots of data of more than a billion people using their platform.

The organization has invested in machine learning tools that help them profile users based on what they treasure and what makes them sad. The growing competition fueled by globalization has enhanced the information communication technology infrastructure to facilitate the exchange of both financial data and personal information about people. The development of information communication technology has provided business with substantive gains when it comes establishing a database that allows them to understand consumer expectations based on analyzed consumption patterns. Communication has enhanced both the quality of economic, social and political process within different countries and the international arena. Nonetheless, the benefits realized have led to a lot of challenges due to the growing concern of the level of security on the information channels that make such networks vulnerable to cyber-attacks.

The gains of cyber-attacks are often financial gains through defrauding unsuspecting citizens by stealing small portions from their bank accounts or credit card as they pose as credible institutions in identity theft scenarios. The election of President Macron in France has raised a lot of questions on the changing dynamics in the political systems especially judging from the voting patterns. Information communication technology in countries where substantive efforts have been made to eliminate the digital divide, the use of social media is a platform that reaches a considerable audience. The quality of political ideology is threatened by the undue influence asserted by cyber-attacks which take advantage of the existent vulnerabilities within the cyberspace and legislative framework against fake news (Gandhi, Sharma, Mahoney, Sousan, Zhu, & Laplante, 2011).

The prevalence of social media has motivated cyber-attacks since people believe the news advanced through such networks especially individual not exposed on how to identify fake news. The political gains from propaganda drive the need to utilize cyber-attacks as modern models of enhancing perception which is fundamental in any electoral contents across the world. The consistent abuse of public information for selfish gains should be punishable through incarceration and heavy penalties as well as enhancing the need for greater ethical practices across organizations corporate governance. Even though the society plays a pivotal role in eliminating the threats of cyber-attacks, it is imperative to understand the impact of political attacks through the cyberspace from the perspective of different government formation framework. Authoritarian societies, for instance, are not challenged by cyber-attacks since the dictatorial system of government is not threatened by divergent political ideology, unlike western democracies where political competition is the basis of governance.
