Document 1

The longer an individual has thought about taking his/her own life, the more likely they are to end up doing it. Secondly, I would ask if they have made any previous attempts at it. People who have previously attempted to take their own lives are far more likely to take their lives as compared to people who attempt to do it for the first time. The answers to these questions would enable one to come up with a fairly accurate assessment. Cultural factors also play a significant role in making a suicide risk assessment. Next, I would look for a family member or a close friend to provide mental and emotional support. This would be instrumental in helping him overcome his depression.
