Sustainability in food production enhances the quality of food production hence preventing hazards to the consumer. Food production sustainability involves the consideration of food defense processes to prevent harming consumers. There is also the creation of healthier environments that enables crops to grow well. The whole process, therefore, makes the planet and its people to become healthier. The process of food sustainability is a process that is complex and multifaceted that has economic, social, and environmental components (Smith et al. Agricultural expansion negatively affects the quality of soil in many ways; hence, it is another factor that should be avoided. By stopping agricultural diversity, there will be a reduction in the emission of gases. It is estimated that forests are replacing 80% percent of the croplands located in the tropics.

The agriculture expansion that takes place in the tropics accounts for nearly 98% of the carbon dioxide gases that are being released in the air (Grunert, 2011). Stopping agricultural expansion would, therefore, mean that there would be reduced emissions into the air that would promote agricultural intensification. The process would also make the soil more resilient regarding climate change and the general process of conserving it. It is also proven that organic soil retains water efficiently compared to the other soils than other farms that employ a variety of conventional methods in the process of farming. It is therefore evident that although conventional methods of farming may lead to more crops like corn and other crops, organic farming promotes long term farming in the same piece of land.

Organic farming has effectively proven to promote the improvement of soil quality. Organic farming practices also reduce the emission of gasses that are involved in practices like greenhouse farming. Essentially it is important to carry out proper sanitation and storage processes that involve different stages of proper food handling. When all procedures are followed regarding food processing stages, it leads to increased quality in food production sustainability. Precautions ensure the safety of consumers and guard against different environmental hazards that may be associated with food production. Some foods do not require any moisture when stored, and it is important to ensure they are kept at the required temperature to avoid turning into poison. A common understanding of food production sustainability among farmers and other involved sectors would be to work towards following production principles, including other practices that promote the whole process.

The activities include limiting waste release and overexploitation of land without allowing for regeneration. By the year 2020, the commission aims at spearheading the input of resources into the process of sustainable food production by 20%. The target can be realized faster with the development of technologies and different discoveries that would aid in the establishment of better ways to carry out more food production activities. The plans would also mean that more people would embrace farming as an economic activity. The commission also promotes the use of natural resources responsibly in order to protect against exploitation and pollution of the environment. Most of the effective agricultural practices would be the deciding factors towards realizing a sustainable food production process that would ensure food security.
