The Five Sensed World Essay
It is normal for someone to forget or gain little understanding of what he/she has read. The key concept of reading any text is to not just read but to read and understand in between the lines of the passage. Something worth reading and understandable involves those passages that touch our psyche as something worth remembering. Reading requires halting and questioning yourself the main concept as you go on. Therefore, in reading, to help a skimmer reader who has not understood the passage should involve some simple methods which makes him/her understand the passage easier and faster and some include the following; For a skimmer to read poetry work and understand it in a faster way he/she can read it audibly. In interpretation one considers the doctrine that brings to light the text.
In the text there underlies values, ideas, beliefs and norms which outlines/ surfaces the ideology of the text. This is simply done by writing down the words and ideas which are key in the text or are taken in a positive way by the author. In that manner we depend on our five senses smell, taste, touch, hear and see. To add on this, there is much that is hidden in knowledge but if we are ignorant of what is going on around us then there is no change in our lives. This is likened with that person who blindly follows another one who has eyes but can’t see anything of value with the God given eyes. “I have walked with people whose eyes are full of light, but who see nothing in the wood, sea, or sky, nothing in city streets, nothing in books”.
In this the author adds on to mean it would be better to be blind and sail forever in the night of blindness with sense and feeling and mind, other than to just find peace in the act of seeing but seeing nothing at all. Yes, we can be unable to realize what is around us every other moment, but there is need to be caring and loving to each other regardless of what we are going through. This can be alluded in the passage whereby the author says that the calamities associated with blindness should not take away the things that count- humor, imagination, service, friendship and wisdom. This is evidenced in the day to day lifestyles whereby it’s possible to detect a person who has everything in store but they exhibit a poor way of life due to lack of revelation of what they have with them.
There is much imagination even on the way we react to matters to with our beliefs both spiritual as well as in science. The poet gives a case of an inventor who just imagines what was in the mind of the astronomer who lived many years back. Lastly the writer uses symbolism of night to mean that without knowledge the sense of seeing is of use to the person. This is likened to being blind, no one can see and explore the nature. One aspect can’t be left out and expect full outcome of activities of the life. Like for us believe in the things we have never seen for instance, the New Jerusalem where everyone looks forward to; its all about knowledge with all its aspects considered.
