The legality of school uniform
It is evident that, constitutionally, students are allowed to express themselves provided school lessons are no interrupted. In that case, clothing is a non-disruptive and passive medium that enables students share their perceptions and thoughts without disrupting or interfering with the educational opportunities (Fossey 28). Therefore, the factor that students clothing does not interfere with classes, then school uniforms are an unnecessary and inefficient bureaucracy that needs learning institutions to focus or worry about what students are wearing. Additionally, according to the constitution, it is undeniable that the mandatory call for school uniforms is a direct violation of student’s rights to free speech. Despite school official’s allegation that school is mainly for learning while self-expression is for the after-school hours, it is undeniable that there are other tools that could be used to promote the educational experience rather than enforcing school uniforms.
