To use this manufactured foods or not; to take products from genetically engineered organisms or not. Most people are just worried about their health and not only health mental health and so many have turned to new age living (Mason, et al, 2013). New age living in itself may have the answers to have improved health and removing toxins; but what are the real facts behind this? Can this be the key to what everyone is looking for, improved mental health? Tai chi and gi gong might just be the answer to mental health. For starters what is tai chi? Tai chi is an art discovered by the Chinese in the early centuries. It involves a combination of techniques used when breathing to incorporate qi into the body of the user.

Meditations, on the other hand, enable one to have access to qi. Qi is the power of nature and brings healing. The techniques when applied have brought such advantages as it has been proven. Data Mental health as a discipline cannot be complete without talking about stress management, depression, self-esteem, psychosomatic disorders, anxiety, mood disturbances and psychosocial wellbeing. A peek at each of these mental problems reveals the true mental benefits of tai chi. The only place improvement was not recorded was against a group of people with only a physical impairment which did not affect their mental health. Tai chi is thus effective on people managing stress. Anxiety and mood disorders Certainly, mood and anxiety disorders are most prevalent in people who are obese and have a record of heart disease.

A study was done on people with heart failure where they were accorded an exercise of a few weeks proved to have been beneficial on their anxiety and depression levels. Again other tests practical tests were done on women who were overweight, HIV patients and a group of healthy showed improvements in their mental status. This calmness is what leads to one being calm about stressful situations and thus improving stress management. However, cannot treat some physical impairments and hence it did not work in such cases. It is important to note that Tai Chi practices involve meditation which also helps manage stress and hence the results. Secondly, people with anxiety disorders showed signs of reduction in anxiousness and improved mental health.

Tai chi and qigong when used allows qi or natures energy to come into the body of the one practicing. This is because some of the techniques applied are external and when done well lead to the full exercising of body muscles; this exercising leads to one sleeping well and has improved mental health. What you make of it From my personal perspective, Tai Chi is a therapeutic and a form of martial art disciple that can be incorporated in the medical field in numerous ways; to cure or mitigate different diseases or conditions. Its applications have been demonstrated especially in most Asian countries, where the practice of Tai Chi has been incorporated in individuals’ daily routines. Conclusion All the patients included in the test programs of tai chi and qigong showed improved mental health.
