Last year, Tomorrowland festival had 400,000 event-goers (Boelpaep, 2014). The event gathers more than 180,000 participants to the main site and brings together an additional 80,000 people at seven remote venues across the globe via the UNITE with Tomorrowland festival. Tomorrowland is the world’s prominent electronic music festival dance in terms of organization, the journey, the concept, line-up and overall experience (Boelpaep, 2014). From a humble low-key beginning over a decade ago, Tomorrowland has become the greatest and most notable dance music party in the world. Today, Tomorrowland tickets are sold out in few hours and the event welcomes participants from every corner of the globe. Since 2009 to present, Tomorrowland had annual themes which dictate the incredible main stage design, the lineups of dance music stars and immersive production (Boelpaep, 2014).

Sustainability Over the past decades, there has been a significant shift in power and economy in the world which has led to greater inequity and economic disparity, a greater degradation of the ecosystem which has dramatically impacted global climate into unprecedented variance, and a decline in social-culture virtues (Leemans & Solecki, 2013). The general happiness of people hasn’t improved over the past few years, despite a steady development in economic, accessibility of more cheap products and swanky technologies (Leemans & Solecki, 2013). Research indicates that in the near future a significant scarcity of natural resources such as water, energy, food and clean air will be shared with a bigger population. Global modern civilization has resulted in unsustainable life. There is a magic in the music festival.

The music festivals invite an assorted group of people to gather for the same common interest, the music (Gibson & Connell, 2016). Regardless of the one’s language, music units all people across the world since is something everyone can understand (Croom, 2014). Gibson and Connell (2016), defined the music festival as an occasion which comprises different bands and musical artists performing shows, on various stages, over a period of days to a crowd inside and outside the venue. The event can be organized in a stadium or outside at the park, on a farm, the field, the beach or in the desert. On another hand, MX1 delivers transmission and uplink services to ensure that three performances from the main performers in Belgium – Dimitri Vegas & Like Mike, Armin van Buuren, and Kshmr are broadcasted live to live to the other venues (Boelpaep, 2014).

Experience and Meaning Not only the Tomorrowland festival offers musical entertainment; it also provides an opportunity for goers to partake in physical activities such as yoga session and 5K runs; encourage freedom of expression in many forms; creative art projects; and offers platforms for different firms to advertise their products and services. In an interview, DJ Armin van Buuren told CNBC that Tomorrowland is beyond a festival (Boelpaep, 2014). He stated that it’s a music event joined with a theme pack, combined with a culture event united with a food festival. Tomorrowland offers music, the social, the festival and separation experience (Boelpaep, 2014). In his research, (Croom, 2014) has also proven that music festivals, significantly influences the psychological and social-being of youths by ultimately impacting their engagement, emotions, meanings, relationships, and accomplishment.

Secondly, often people have a need to celebrate their common humanity and diversity, joy and art (Croom, 2014). Festivals fulfil this need as it offers an exceptional environment that builds the human relationship and strengthens solidarity (Croom, 2014). The music events bring together all different people regardless of their location, ethnicity or religion. In the festival, people eat together, talk about life together and also experiences music together. In their research (Bhusal, Elijah & Sadequzzaman, 2015), stated that the mega music festival brings massive revenue to host cities, increase tourism, support urban renewal, job provision and another commercial. According to (Boelpaep, 2014), 400,000 festival-goers attended the last year event and the organizers estimated to have collected roughly $120 million from the event which can be cultivated back to the economic development of the community.

Secondly, the festival enhances social cohesion in the host community (Bhusal, Elijah & Sadequzzaman, 2015). Historically, Music festivals have been used to provide important societal values. The Tomorrowland festival avails a platform for goers to exchange ideas, social change and a venue for political communication. Also, the event has shown to bring negative social effects such as substance abuse, breaking of social networks, negative health effects, and increased criminal activities (Botelho-Nevers & Gautret, 2013). Lastly, the festival has been overly commercialized which has undermined the local culture, tradition, and identity with commercial ideals (Botelho-Nevers & Gautret, 2013). Conclusion In summary, the Tomorrowland music event builds community, diversity, tolerance and provides a platform where goers can acquire positive values such as contributing, helping, sharing, and being a part of the society.
