Immigrants are now flocking to the West and especially the United States in the quest to find and get good living conditions. The History of Immigration Policy Immigration has played a major role in the affairs of the United States. Since the early 1880s, the government of the United States has been very free to immigration and allowed the free movement of immigrants and resettlements in the United States. Therefore, in the early 1880s, the government had not set any immigration policy and laws to govern the migration and the settlement of the immigrants in the country. Therefore, each nation was given a limited quota on the number of immigrants that could be allowed to settle in the country and hence the issue of immigration was greatly minimized.

The 1960s saw the change in the law to accommodate more immigrants from outside Europe. The law during this time was changed to allow for the massive immigrants from Asia to enter the country. More than one million immigrants from Asain countries, therefore, settled in the country during this time and hence creating an influx of Adain nationalities settling and working in the United States.
