Children should be allowed the freedom to explore what they see around them, and the incorporation of computer usage in learning from an early stage of elementary education is one of the prudent ideas a parent can make. Despite the challenges that could be experienced while using computers at this stage, the benefits outdo the setbacks. It is also important to note that devices such as phones, tablets, iPod, and laptops are also computer-based devices. This paper would thus succinctly discuss all the benefits that could accrue due to the introduction of computer education at elementary schools. It would also go a notch further to hint the few drawbacks that are likely to be experienced from the learning system (Blackwell et al. Teachers, on the other hand, face the challenge of taking all the due precautions to ensure the safety of devices.
Important to note is that only proficient computer tutors can assist students in learning. Children don’t just wake up clever at one point in time; they have to be guided consistently in the ways of being responsible and handling computer gadget before the actual learning process commences. When eventually a country gains momentum and effectively apply computer usage in elementary education then it implies that the teachers are not only hardworking but also their ration to students is incredible. The education system as a whole can thus be described as an advanced one since implanting a computed based elementary learning is not an easy task. The current generation gets tired of listening too faster. Audio-visual presentations in class make learning more practical and entertaining. Besides, computer-guided teaching molds students into responsible beings since they have no option but follow instructions to be successful.
When it comes to the curriculum teaching of technology and its importance, studies value and appreciate the few benefits that they have encountered (Shamir-Inbal & Blau, 2016). Matters concerning the computer must be done by every student for them to master and comprehend the various concepts. On the contrary, the use of computers in the elementary schools has two distinct advantages at this stage. First, it calls for a bigger deal in striking balance of when to do manual work or use the computers. It is not every time that the machines should be used. Children must also learn to adopt legible and readable handwriting that makes their work nice to read. At the stage, the students are still too young and need guidance on what to do and why they need to do them (Salmela-Aro et al.
However, there must be a backup security plan to protect the schools from experiencing safety issues. This implies additional costs regarding time and money. In conclusion, the use of computers in elementary schools is a good thing. Exposing children to computers at an early stage make them fit fast in the digital world. The children become eager to learn and appreciate the beauty of Information Technology at a tender age. R. Wartella, E. Factors influencing digital technology use in early childhood education.
