Mel and his wife are the oldest couple and Nick and his wife the youngest. On this particular day there emanated a heated debate based on love and each individual appeared to hold a distinct meaning about it. On this day the couples seemed to have kicked their day on a high note as it was characterized by jolly friends, cheerful sunrise, drinking gin with tonic water and a bit of cigarettes. Thesis This day is characterized by hope from the way the sun rises and fills the kitchen to the fun that these four friends seem to be having. Their friendship seems to have been flowering especially from the fact that these guys had met in Albuquerque. In one occasion Mel talks about wishing to come back as a knight in his after life, after Terri had talked about vessel, Mel says that some vassal did come back and spear the knight in the name of love.

Terri clarified that that this, love, were the same things people fought over to date. Laura ascertained that not even a niche had changed. Thus, it was believed that knights fought and died for love. In another incidence Laura told Mel that they loved him. This is so in that her first husband, Ed, seems to have mistreated her to an extent of wanting to kill her which happened one night when Ed dragged her and beat her up. This had happened before Terri and Mel met and got married. Mel too had a wife and kids but they had long divorced. Thus Mel and Terri had decided to change their past by leaving their earlier life and getting married. Thus things were not the same as they were the past five years.

This emanated from Ed’s threats whereby he, Ed, took a pistol to intimidate Terri and Mel. Despite his body structure, which appeared strong and capable of self-defense he went ahead and bought a gun. They lived as renegades and every time Mel is called to go to work he is always scared and thinks that Ed was crazy. He, Ed, often called his service line and intimidated him. At one point in time Terri recalls when she and Mel had made a will to Mel’s brother who was a Green Beret. In the morning when the couples were conversing while having their drinks in the kitchen, an imagery of how the sun illuminates the room is created. This is an indication of a beautiful morning sun. Terri is described as having a pretty face, dark eyes and brown hair and fancied in ornaments.

This imagery brings about her good looks an indication of a gorgeous woman. When Nick picks Laura’s hand he comes to a realization that her nails had been perfectly polished. These two incidences bring out the moments of despair in the literal work. There sprang incidences of generosity as stipulated in the literature. This is evident from the point that Mel serves his guests together with his wife gin and tonic. Later on in the day, after they had drunk till evening, he requests to take them to a new place that he had discovered. This was to happen only after they had finished the gin. They later divorced and he was married to Terri his second wife. Terri too had been married to Ed, his first husband. Later on when things went out of hand she was married to Mel who had become her second husband.

Thus, they have something in common from their marriages; they both had a remorseful past. This is so in that, Ed, Terri’s first husband had at one point beaten her to a point of almost killing her. In one of the theme story that Mel narrates to his audience, an old couple had been involved in an accident. They had been connected by the virtual of marriage and the husband had been very depressed by the fact that he wouldn’t be able to see his lover, wife, again. Thus, it is true to say that the theme of relationship manifested the context. There occurs many life threating situations. Thus death lured most in the context. He had later shot himself through his mouth and admitted to hospital but had died three days later.
