Growing up, I, my sister, and mother were inseparable whereby we did everything together. Since I was the eldest to my sister, I used to help my mother with house chores, an act that strengthened our relationship. As children, we always sort help from our mum than from our dad since she ever made us feel secure with whatever problem we wanted help with. Though our closeness to mum is not an indication that my sister and I hated or had a problem with our father, dad was always there for us (Smith, 161). Our father was not still with the family although he was the sole provider since our mother was a housewife. "I don't know "was our mum's response. The response and look on our moms face sent a message that something was a mess.

Dad used to come early on Fridays so that he could take us for an evening movie show, on that Friday he did not show up early as his usual routine. After a long wait, I decided to ask mom for permission to allow me to watch a movie with a neighbor who also happens to be my friend. My family and that of my friend were family friends; mom permitted me on condition that I come early. For years, I have tried to hide but to no vain. I have been affected psychologically after I discovered that your father had an affair with his colleague at work and to make things worse, they married secretly last year. When I discovered that they are married, your father has been hostile to me and even threatened to kill me.

However, for your father to stay in the marriage with her estranged wife, he is divorcing me. Last week he served me with divorce papers so that he could be legally married to his other wife. They could not believe that such a happy and a united family was no more. To react to the surprise of the text, I grabbed my phone and dialed my mom’s number. The phone went unanswered. I did not believe whether what I was experiencing at the moment was real. Thus, to ensure that everything was right, I ran to our house. Why did he do that us? Have we in anyway wronged him? Was mom unfaithful to him? Several questions ran across my mind but with no answers.

I decided to call him so that he could provide answers to all the questions that were lingering in my head. His phone went unanswered too. For consolation, I ran back to my friend's home and started crying. I could not explain what just transpired in our home since I did have information about my father's secret marriage. I called him back to ask if divorcing mom was necessary for him to get another wife but my call went unanswered. I lacked sleep that night since I was trying to figure out how my little sister and I will cop without our mom. Very early in the morning, I grabbed my phone to see if there are missed calls or new messages from either mom or dad.

Nonetheless, there were no messages or missed calls. As a result, it led to me having a breakdown. Though dad supported us academically by financing our education to college, I still have that hatred towards him for divorcing our mom and marrying another wife (Nuru, Audra K. , and Tiffany, 226). After that event, I have learned to be responsible and independent despite the support I get from my stepmom and father. I have learned to protect my sister at all cost as I was advised by our mom.
