However when the drug is used on repeated occasions it leads to development of tolerance and physical dependence. When the substance is used for a long time leads to adverse condition like health deterioration which is a signal for the addiction (Heather Pierucki et al, 2018). The use of cocaine prevents dopamine which is a neurotransmitter that elevates moods excitement and pleasure from reabsorption. So it lingers the brain, causing euphoria. Cocaine thus starts to wear off leading to absorption of dopamine. The signal for cocaine addiction is inability to stop using the drug. the use of cocaine recreationally isn’t addiction. One can notice if it’s addictive if one fails to do some of the responsibilities and spending most of the time thinking about the drug (Heather Pierucki et al, 2018).
