This is because ASD would affect the children’s motor skills hence reduce their psychological willingness to engage in physical activities. Therefore, the purpose of this paper is to examine how exercise and lifestyle modifications would positively affect children with ASD (Gaad et al. The secondary aim of this research is to construct upon the prevailing information so as to boost forthcoming researches aiming to study how exercise would advance both physical and psychological well-being of children diagnosed with ASD. Literature review Smith et al. , (2006) developed research guidelines for studies about psychological interventions that could be used for children diagnosed with ASD. Obesity is a highly prevalent problem among children with ASD. Clinicians are trying to implement effective exercise interventions that would address the issues related to the risk of obesity.

Based on standardized motor assessments, more than 50% of children with ASD demonstrated difficulties in movement and motor coordination which might limit their activity choices (Srinivasan et al. Another factor that leads to obesity among children with ASD is their nature of having overly selective food choices. Long-term use of treatment drugs could also lead to obesity because some medications like antipsychotic risperidone are related significant weight gain. The researchers concluded that group based SST is worthy of further studies to find effective interventions that would reduce the socialization deficits among children with ASD. Design A mixed method approach suits the nature of the research since it involves complex processes of investigating the children with ASD. The quantitative data was used to complement the qualitative dataset in order to address the related questions of the primary study.

The reason for setting a clear relationship between the two methods was to ensure that the research findings can be triangulated to generate a better insight than when a single research method is applied. The research used experimental research design to investigate the relationship between exercise and aggression among children with ASD (Ilias et al. The sampling method of these participants is appropriate for the research since it would increase the quality of the information gathered and would also cover all people concerned with the growth of children identified with ASD. The number of the participants would also save on time and resources without compromising the quality of the information gathered. Procedures/measures A contract was initiated to the potential participants and for all those who accepted to participate, and eligibility test was conducted.

The conditions for participants’ eligibility were that someone had to be a parent of a child with ASD and all children who participated should have tested positive for ASD. The study used different data gathering techniques to collect both qualitative and qualitative data. The exercises were supposed to be intense and repeated until the thirty minutes were over. The parents were encouraged to conduct the exercises in at least groups of three in order to make it easy for observation and as a way to encourage the children to participate. Data analysis A few steps were used to analyze the qualitative data. First, all interviews were transcribed and summarized in an understandable way. Then they were reviewed and interpreted by comparing them with the previous literature.

The research should not involve the participants in activities or engage them in conversations that might harm them either physically or psychologically ("Ethical Principles of Psychologists and Code of Conduct. The researchers should be aware of the sound effects of their actions on the participants’ physical and psychological health. When conducting the research, the researcher is also required to get an informed consent from the participant. In the case of children who are deemed by the law as individuals incapable of giving informed consent, they should seek consent from the children’s guardians or parents. Before recording voices or taking images of the participants or any other individual, the researchers should seek permission from the individual or his/her legal representative.

Using mixed research method facilitates communication and provides a better research outcome. In regard to this research, mixed-method approach processed and found solutions to challenges faced by family members with ASD. The study uses the approach to integrate the data sources for a better understanding of the experiences of the children’s parent. More researches concerning children with ASD and their parents should be conducted to deepen the knowledge base of the mixed methods findings and develop more effective evidence-based interventions.
