His research indicates that in the past one year, the number of coral deaths recorded is alarming. Adverse to what was imagined by many, the scientist however identified that human actions were the leading cause of their deaths through nitrogen. The article gives an insight that nitrogen from untreated sewages and fertilizers were the key components that contributed to the loss (Pien Huan). This is because; the above mentioned waste materials were compromising the quality of water therefore leading into the death of the corals. The rise in the wastes can be attributed to an increase in the number of industries across the globe. Unlike the climate, human actions are controllable, hence giving a room to an increase in the number of corals in the future.
