Despite all the contributions of media, this paper we shall be looking at the negative impacts of visual and verbal media. However, social media is posing a great threat to our social lives through fake news and the spread of propaganda. Social media gives anyone an opportunity at any time to post and comment the way they want over issues which have led to serious misuse of the available channels, some of the vices committed on social media are diverse cyberbullying being one that involves many youth across the world by sending and spread of threat that is dangerous for cosmopolitan societies and this has been common especially during campaigns in democratic nations. Despite spreading animosity it cultivates a negative attitude towards people perceived not to be of the same opinion as of the group in question.

Threats undermine fundamental human rights to live and conduct businesses in case free trade has been enacted between nations of various regions through regional blocks and in a nation that has enacted the law on freedom of movement and expression. It is seen when children constantly fight each other may sometimes be because they have watched such movies as young children develop character according to the environment they are in. However, not all aggressive behaviors are not caused by watching violent contents. Another effect on children may cause extreme disruptive behavior in them, although disruptive behavior is not only attached to what children see, watching violent content may influence young people to act in such ways. As much as media violence can help young people to develop self-esteem and confidence, and educate against violence in the society by showing the outcomes of crimes, without proper guidance and direction by parents, children may develop aggressiveness, arrogance that may be their character throughout their lives.

In addition, violent world in the media and video contents serves as a refuge for people who feel insecure about what bothers them in their respective environments and when it comes to defending themselves they may unleash what has been implanted in them by the media hence can be disastrous to those surrounding him/her (Anderson, et al, 2018) Violent media may take most of young people’s time as it causes addiction cannot contribute in improving their skills nor morality but instead develop hostility and develop repressive culture if the measure is not taken to regulate their understanding. Studies show that most parents who are addicted to media violence harshly punish their children due to longtime effect of violent videos. (Anderson et al, 2018.

) This makes them harsh and hostile and may make their children hostile too in the sense that they will learn the hostility from their parents, at the same time through their harsh treatment on their children there will be a gap between them hence cannot have time to guide them on better upbringing to overcome the effect of violent media contents that they too are exposed to. Nations take the revengeful stand in case of conflict arise majorly because of the influence of violent media content that is over time been a source of pride among nations (Bushman, & Huesmann, 2016). Patriotism in most nations is always cemented by invoking the great names of people who fought for their nations, when analyzed critically, the methods used to eliminate the perceived enemy was in most cases unfriendly but these people become an inspiration to their nations.
