At the beginning of the story, he is depicted, to be honest, and straightforward. However, he significantly changes more towards a person that he draws to be bad. In my opinion, Nick fails to settle in New York City because he views his behavior and personality to have been transformed profoundly since he considered himself a well-rounded man initially but now had to escape the east coast. Undeniably, he did not try hard enough to resist the change. Nick moves to New York City to carry out a wholesale business. He had to run away before the immorality consumed him (Scott). "Whenever you feel like criticizing anyone, just remember that all the people in the world haven't had the same advantages that you've had.

" These were Nick's father's words which he shares as he starts telling the narrative. From the beginning of the narrative, Nick tells us that he does not judge people just as his father had taught him. He also claimed that he was honest. "Gatsby believed in the green light, organic future that year by year recedes before us. It eluded us then, but that's no matter, tomorrow we will run faster," Nick narrates," so we beat on boats against the current. " He added. Indeed, this encouraged Nick to move on into the future and forget all about the past. Also, he learns from Gatsby's funeral how his friends were mean not even to attend his funeral yet they attended his parties every time.
