Even in the contemporary age, some employers still think that women have their place at home and that they should not be in the workforce. For over one and a half centuries, modern feminism has been struggling to solve such gender-based inequality problems in society. As such, the call for legal, political, and social equality for all genders has a long history in the civilized world. Until 1920, women in the United States were not allowed to vote. In 1919, thousands of women assembled outside the White House to demand that they be allowed the voting right (Nicholson 8). As such, the feminists tend to shift their topical focus, analytic lens, and assumptions away from the male experience and viewpoint and toward that of women.

In this manner, feminists highlight the issues, trends, and social problems that are otherwise misidentified or overlooked by the predominantly male perspective in society. The aim of feminism is decreasing or even abolishing the idea that men are superior to women, and completely doing away with the gender gap. Many people believe that the feminist thought exclusively focuses on women and girls and that it has an imminent role of promoting women superiority over men. However, according to Aston (16), the feminist thought is about perceiving the social world in a way that highlights the forces that establish and support inequality, injustice, and oppression, and in this manner, it promotes the pursuit of justice and equality. In addition, feminist advocates have extensively utilized the social media platform to share their thoughts; hence, opening discourse on transnational feminism.

Feminism has influenced the world today in many ways from the aspects of: a. Women and Society Although men are still the dominant gender in contemporary society, women play an important role. In the past, women were considered to be housewives, and their role was obeying man orders and taking care of the children. The influence of feminism has greatly changed the manner in which women are perceived in society. As such, feminist advocates have always emphasized on the importance caring for women not only by allowing them to vote and giving them jobs but also by prioritizing their health because they have the most fragile and sensitive body structure in addition to pregnancy and some other mother activities (Kabeer 18). In this manner, feminism has influenced various countries across the world to establish specialized centers that are devoted to the health of girls and women.

For instance, Norway has National Centers that are focused on providing healthcare to women and the elderly in the country. d. Women and Economics Today, feminism has positively influenced the active participation of women in economic challenges and political debates. Therefore, the concern of feminists should be on gender, women, and their position rather than the notion of masculinity and femininity. The Concern of Feminist Feminists should be concerned with calling for equal rights to be granted to women as men in society, and to ensure that the genders share equity in the society’s opportunities. Feminist advocacy should support the idea that there needs to be a larger allocation of the scares resources to women. In this manner, the concern should be on factors such as: i.

Advocating for Equal Access to Education Everyone should be granted with the basic human right to education. iii. Eradicating the Rape Culture The rape culture has taken root in today’s society, and feminist should be concerned with it. The defilement of women causes long-term psychological and physical effects on victims, hindering their ability to live normally and pursue dreams as other girls and women. Therefore, feminist should be concerned with rape culture issues such as joking about sexual assault, victim-blaming, and slut-shaming.
