There is a remedy to the condition where there’s a possibility of one recovering to normalcy completely. Introduction Mental illness can be defined as a disease that is affecting the mind inception by brain damage or as a result of genetic inheritance. Brain damage can be caused by an external force or a cellular level and can cause long term mental illnesses. The research on mental illnesses is going to discuss, at length the causes, how to prove someone’s mental status and the steps to recover a stable mental status if one is discovered to be suffering from this illness. Discussion Sociologists and anthropologists tend to discard likelihoods of developing a universal perception of mental disorder that would be effective on all social groups as the believe that mental illnesses are culturally quantified phenomena.

On further research of when these mental illnesses strike, it was discovered that they hit earlier than people can speculate as early as twenty-four or fourteen in some cases. Scholars disagree with the myths that say mental illnesses are a result of mental factors like individual weakness or behavioral effects. Because of the nature of this disorder, those affected should be taken good care of rather than isolating them. Another common cause of mental illness is biologically based. Some of the conditions are connected to an uncharacteristic equilibrium of brain chemicals known as neurotransmitters.

These chemicals are the ones that aid communication of nerve cells within the brain. If these chemicals are imbalanced, or are not working properly, messages may not be passed within the brain or passage of wrong information code may occur leading to the development of signs of a mental illness. Injuries to certain parts of the brain have also been linked to some mental conditions. These signs tend to vary according to age. In adults, these signs include; Disorientation where one cannot think straight, prolonged state of depression (E. and D 55), social withdrawal, drug usage and abuse, frequent hallucinations, suicidal thoughts, strange delusions, extreme feelings of fear, worry and anxiety. However, one cannot be said to be suffering from mental illness if maybe one of the above signs have been noted.

During this time, they don’t manage their responsibilities properly in school and at home, cannot handle their daily minor problems and a drastic change in eating and sleeping habits. They will also be having suicidal minds, continuous physical ailments and a kind of bipolar attitude. Mental illness can be handled with proper information of how to handle day to day activities. This is achieved by first of all accepting your feelings. This kind of treatment when harmonized with medication proves to be the best method to recovery. Medication can be given to mental patients but it does not really out rightly cure mental illness but needs to be paired up with another treatment for effectiveness.

Case management is another method of treating mental illness that help in assessment, planning and implementing some strategies that will facilitate recovery. In some cases, patients are hospitalized to be monitored, observed and diagnosed so as to take some adjustments in case of any change.
