Essential among them is mutual trust and competence. There must be mutual trust among the commanders, subordinates and the staff involved in the mission, and this is built over time. Every team member must abide by the rules of engagement and respect the command structure. Due to the uncertainties in missions, the element of risk acceptance is also incorporated among the principles. Commanders access and analyze the risks involved to minimize unforeseen hazards to the bare minimum. All these principles need to be adhered to ensure all missions achieve the outlined objectives. A cohesive team is a critical component of any successful mission. In the history of the NBA, the Bulls were arguably the greatest basketball dynasty. Many fanatics and sports enthusiasts across the globe might overlook other factors and solely attribute this success to their leader, Michael Jordan. In the closing moments of game 6, the Bulls found themselves in a tie game with only 28 seconds left in regulation time. Without a doubt, the ball would be placed in the hands of Michael Jordan to win the game. As the game clock winded down and both the game and championship on the line, the ‘greatest player of all time' elected to pass up the last shot.

Jordan decided to pass it to his teammate, Steve Kerr, to take and make the game-winning shot. While under intense enemy fire and despite receiving significant wounds, Johnson mounted a brave retaliation resulting in several enemy casualties. They include mutual trust, mission orders, disciplined initiative, and more so, commander's intent.
