This disorder has caused people to experience unwanted thoughts which are obsessions and to have a repeat on behaviors over and over again which is referred to as compulsions. This problem is depicted by impulses which fall under the obsessive and repetitive behaviors which tend to fall under compulsions or even the presence of both the two complexions. A person suffering from the obsessive-compulsive disorder often tends to be discouraged by their thoughts and behaviors which has proved a threat in the delays of seeking treatment thus ending up affecting them eventually. Many individuals all over the world usually see this disorder as an uncommon and rare disease. This is not the case since according to the report in America, it was found out that almost 2. Therefore obsessions happen to be the recurring thoughts while compulsion happens to be of recurrent actions. An example is that of an obsession with germs. When an individual happens to have an obsession with germs, he or she will always wash their hands to a point where they become very clean. When there is a repeated process by the individual, the obsession may leave for a short period, but they will, however, reappear (Grant et al. The fear of losing or having the necessities that one may need is another symptom experienced by the patients suffering from this obsessive-compulsive disorder. To them, they believe and have a feeling that everything done or done by them must be right. Despite spending their time washing, they also spent most of their times trying to arrange things with the main aim being to make sure that everything is in place. Finally, the obsession compulsive patients tend to pray so much and keep engaging themselves in various rituals which are triggered by the fear of religion. In the diagnosis of the obsessive-compulsive disorder, certain steps are taken to find out the symptoms. The following steps and tests are done to help in the diagnosis of OCD. One of the steps done is a physical exam. This treatment tends to re-train the brain from the normal thinking to another perspective. An example of retraining is that of a constant compulsive hand washer.

Here the compulsive hand washer is taken through some events or procedures whereby the victim is asked to touch something like a door handle and then prevented from washing the hands. This practice drives away someone’s anxiety and guilt thus a victim will be able to learn on how to live without depending on beliefs. This act does reveal to us that an individual can control ones obsessive thoughts and compulsive behaviors. This misunderstanding in the family is normally caused by the obsessive-compulsive disorder. Family therapy as a treatment will, therefore, play an important role in reducing family conflicts. Finally is the group therapy. The obsessive-compulsive disorder patients normally feel isolated. This isolation tends to break the morale of the victims ending up victimizing them.
