Organizational Assessment of Dixie Paper Company Introduction As indicated before, the organization under discussion is the Dixie Paper Company. The organization still has high regards for such values and encourages the exercise of humility at all levels, high commitment to establishing important relationships with the customers, and hard work with a lot of integrity in all the operations of the firm.
Management and leadership style Dixie’s management philosophy: The management style at the Dixie Paper Company takes the form of a top-down approach. That entails the formulation of decisions by those in higher positions of leadership after which they are communicated to the subordinates, staff members, or employees of the firm. The organization has two officers as stated before and these are headed by managers who make decisions that are followed by others in the attainment of the organization’s success. The management philosophy, therefore, revolves around aristocracy in which the other members of the organization have to stick to the rules and decisions that are made by those at the top. Inspirational motivation entails providing a sense of direction and motivating the employees or colleagues to work harder than before in the attainment of the organizational goals.
The second construct, individualized consideration implies that leaders should take care of the aspirations of each of the employees or people who work for them so that everyone feels important and knows the significance of his or her contribution to the organization. Intellectual stimulation concerns the aspect of encouraging innovation and creativity in the firm. These four concepts of transformational leadership theory summarize my leadership and management philosophy. Ethical concerns: There are certain ethical concerns concerning leadership that might arise. The clients can easily communicate with the customer representative on a 24-hour basis and their concerns are handled within the shortest time possible. Excellent customer service is one of the core competencies of the Dixie Paper Company. Because of that, any information that is circulated receives a prompt feedback and is acted upon as required.
Barriers to communication: Even as the Dixie Paper Company strives to attain excellence in all aspects, one of which is communication, there are certain barriers to effective communication in the form. One of these is the mode of communication. As such, it is in order to conclude that my supervisor gained his power from his expertise. Politics of the organization: The Dixie Paper Company makes use of internal recruitment for most of its positions. Even as that happens, there is less politics as the organization’s management rewards the employees based on performance. The only form of politics is the struggle for the control of the firm by the heads of different branches. Since the organization had offices in two places, the managers of the different regions feel like each of them should be more powerful and make most of the decisions of the organization.
The firm has a Chief Executive Officer (C. E. O) who is answerable to the board of directors. Under the C. E. Weaknesses: The only weakness of the Dixie Paper Company is in the distribution of its products. The firm only has two offices in two States as stated before and depends on third parties and retailers for the distribution and sales of its products. Because of that arrangement, the organization has less control over the prices of its products and cannot be able to offer the required levels of customer service. Christian Worldview One area of the Dixie Paper Company’s behavior has to do with excellence in all its operations. The firm’s philosophy stresses on the fact that every employee has to give his best in anything so that the organization can maintain high quality at all levels.
