The theories touch on the development of language, and cognition together with other important aspects such as social, emotional and physical aspects of development. Such theories include psychosexual development which is driven by innate unconscious sexual drives. The theory was propounded by Sigmund Freud. The stage theory of development which is eluded by Erik Erikson is comprehensive and put more focused on social relationships and termed the theory as psychosocial stages of development and are the driving forces in child development. On the other hand, Lev Vygotsky discussed social interaction theory as an explanation of child development. They are preferred to play video games or watch TVs for fear of getting an accident, therefore, having little time and freedom to play. However, in as much as the stages play a significant role in the wholesome development of a child, the transition may be affected by modernity. Limiting the time that children spend on watching TV programs and playing video games would act as a way of reducing such impacts of the contemporary environment to children play and learning. Current Research Summary The theories that address the changes that occur in a human being from childhood to maturity are examined and their summary provided by reviewing three recent publication on child development. In his work titled “Why Play is Important,” Goldstein (2012) notes play time is very effective in child development and further states that behavior present in the mind of young ones of a species experiences evolutionary advantage. Nonetheless, natural selection will take its course and eliminate the behavior. Play is found to contribute to increase in bran development and growth hence provides new neural connection and provides intelligence to the individual. The cognitive theory of development is a psychosocial technique that allows a child to be able to decern between different objects thereby helps the child in perceiving others' states of emotion which make them respond and adapt to the circumstances that are ever changing.

Validation can be achieved through encouraging children to have free time of interacting with fellow playmates and this can be achieved with the help of a parent, caregiver or teacher. Parents will be in a position to easily identify the strengths and weaknesses of their children when they leave them to engage in play activities so that they learn the real-life situations and what is happening within the world around them Conclusion Child development involves changes that occur in the life cycle of human being right from birth to adulthood. The processes involved in child development include physical aspects, cognitive growth and social aspect of growth. In a nutshell, child development has been explained using theories that address the physical, social and cognitive changes that occur in the life of a child from infancy to about the age of seventeen.
