RACISM AS AN INTERNATIONAL CONCERN

Commonly, racism gets termed as the oppression of a specific group of people who term themselves as being superior to the other group, for example, the act where the white people mistreat the black people. However, in broader sense racism is a worldwide problem affecting different countries and continents in several forms (Ladson, 2000). Therefore, racism gets defined as a strong belief in the supremacy of one race over the others which replicate to discernment and more often contribute to prejudice on individuals based on their ethnic groups and race. Some of the most superior countries like the United States of America are still grappling with the eradication of the social problem because over the years it has been much alive and administered in both hidden and explicit ways.

Ideally, racism is thought to have begun in the ancient times of the biblical stories when his fellow brothers mocked one of Noah's sons because of his black skin complexion. Secondly, an anthropologist in the 19th century came up with the scientific or the biological racism theory which continues to lose importance in the current century. It gets based on the belief that individuals possess different genotypes and phenotypes which are more superior to others (Ladson, 2000). Therefore it classifies human beings with superior traits on one side and ends up discriminating individuals with weaker features on separate sides hence giving rise to racism. For example, ranking group 1 to being more knowledgeable than group 2. Some racist goes to the extremes by claiming that group 1 likes reading while group 2 does the opposite of group 1.

The manner in which a person is brought up counts because the fear of danger is instilled at a tender age hence an individual will fear something that is different from them. They will tend to fear for their own life in matters to with security, and self-control which in turn this replicates to development of negative thoughts towards that particular race. Psychological factors and the need to belong continues to stir up racism globally. As the children grow, they become accustomed to this trend which may become hard to change at a later stage. Notably, racism comes from family and it often difficult to change and this may affect an individual personality hence defining who they are. Racism may also be brought about by personal experiences against a racist who assaulted you at one time which translates to fear of that specific race. In ordinary occasions, individuals who have experienced hate from people of a different race turn vile and reciprocate the hostility towards the other track. Naturally, people tend to act this way when they are hurt because it becomes hard for people to avoid racism portrayed in this type of approach as it goes against the usual survival instincts.

That has, in turn, raised a myriad of questions like are the white people morally upright compared to the black people? Therefore these shows the levels of inequalities in America where the black people get oppressed, misjudged, bear most burdens like excess taking and longer jail terms (Sokoloff, & Dupont, 2005).

The issue of racism has facilitated the development of social amenities and schools that are specifically for the white and no black child can attend the school. Recommendations Several techniques can be adopted to curb the spread of racism in the affected countries for example in America. Although the process is tiresome and involves a lot of operations, several approaches can be adopted to reduce the adverse incidents of racism. The first approach is by wholly supporting the anti-fascist campaigns and organizations that get aimed at educating the masses on the effects and consequences of racism acts. Lastly, I can recommend the realization and participation of intercultural activities which will act as a unifying factor among the different races, religion, and ethnic groups who at the end of the day get to appreciate each other's way of life Conclusion The issue of racism has been on the increase in the recent years, in different parts of the world and more so in the united states of America.

The blame, therefore, boils down to everyone because no one wants to admit to being a perpetrator. Although the issues have been on the increase, several methods can be applied to reduce racism like educating the people on the dangers of racism, and proper raising of children by parents. The most important way of reducing racism is the involvement in intercultural activities that create a sense of togetherness among people from different races hence eradicating the problem of racism. Therefore practicing the strategies as mentioned earlier will drastically reduce incidents of racism and people of different races will co-exist together in the right and lawful way.
