Ideally, boys turning specifically into men are brought up to be mighty warriors and leader to honor their love families. Further, girls into women were also taught some of those household needs based on skills and mending some stuff like basket weaving as well as cooking to take care of those children being born. Japanese culture and the Native American all have several but similar rituals together with the rites of passage, though I would be examining those differences and similarities of the existing ceremonies of readings based on the Japanese culture and the Native American culture. I would also be reviewing the aspects of another religion based on the insiders with perspective in becoming more common due to motivations from their practices. Because there is the absence of establishment of the rights of passage in America, that transition from adolescence to adulthood is not necessarily apparent the time it occurs.
Precisely, marriage is seen as one of the most popular rites of passage that is used. Author Crapo givens an explanation of etic models describing each culture in several ways that may seem to be alien based on its participants through facilitating the participants with comparisons between the discovery of those universal principles and customs within its functioning and the structure. Crapo gives an examination on "Nacirema" culture based on etic standpoint to help for the provision of a better understanding of how people's perception would be indifferent to those who do not practice them. The three of the concepts within the rites of a passage as one grows is fundamentally influencing those generations for the future Arnett (2000). According to Arnett, each person develops a controllable factor as he or she emerges from childhood to adulthood in life.
Furthermore, the Japanese culture pattern is known to be a very significant one. However, it is on record that the American culture does not mainly rely on the rites of passage to assist a person's transition with regards to very different stages of their life. The article Body Ritual among the Nacirema (Miner, 1956), the author seems to have explained about the Nacirema culture. The article goes on; one would come to realize that the Nacirema is jus American which is usually spelled in backward as Miner kept on describing the culture based on an etic or just the outsider's point of view. Also, American culture could be seen an outsider's perspective. Japanese recognizes some of the special birthdays as they take them culturally being the guided rites of passage towards death.
The article signifies purposely for another rite of passage for which several cultures do share. It is very crucial as it explains birthdays all the way to death as it is known to be the last rite of passage. Additionally, the anthropologies have researched several forms of rituals of the journey as well as in various cultures. The article fits very well based on the topic "rites of passage," due to the fact that it defines very different cultures which symbolize deaths and deaths though, several cultures really do not necessarily believe that birthdays and death would be of high significance towards a rite of passage as this could be the concept of rituals. They stand for and can be used to show religious beliefs and values of the members who regularly participate in them.
In the entire paper, there is a thorough etic description based on the rites of passage for the Japanese and Americans culture. Therefore, from all the above results, one can to know to understand the value of cultural relativism. References Arnett, J. J. American Anthropologist, 58(3), 503-507.
