Sustainability in Climate Change Adaptations on a Global Scale

The use of fossil fuel and the clearing of vegetative cover off the earth surface leads to human-caused climate change. However, scientists have identified human activities as the fundamental cause of global warming which is a form of climate change. In the recent past, radical climate changes have resulted in the loss of human life in thousands and property worth billions of money. According to research, it is evident that weather disasters are on a skyward trajectory. Intergovernmental panel on climate change (IPCC) has often addressed areas susceptible to disastrous weather changes. Therefore, the system has to consider the current political stand on the subject matter, as well as prove economically viable. Also, it has to be ecologically unified and analogous to the cultural beliefs and activities in the area of interest.

However, politics and lack of interest in the enforcement of sustainable systems greatly undermines the need for adaptation. This paper seeks to determine how sustainability of these climate change adaptations and the globalization of the same has been affected2 The Sustainability of Applied Climate Change Adaptation. Climate change adaptation is critical to any affected country. The use of new crop varieties that are best favored by the new climatic conditions is also an adaptation. These adaptations help reduce significant effects of the climatic change. Therefore, it would require the government to shut down any plant using carbon products as fuel. Additionally, it would also require the abolishment of clued oil as a fuel used for purposes of transport. Some of the demands for a sustainable climate change control and adaptation are very difficult to enforce.

The United States, for example, is considered a homogenous country, well developed and rich. Needless to say, that there are more factories in the US than are people in some African towns. More so, hurricanes are often experienced in some of the American coast cities affecting Americans in the process. Therefore, undermining climate change adaptation is an oversight by the current administration as was by the previous one. Also, America hosts poor states that are marginalized continuously and considered less on this subject. Green Climate Fund was set aside to help in developing sustainable climate change adaptations. The development of these adaptation systems would probably cost billions of money annually. However, pledges made by donor countries every year is never delivered, while the media and the IPCC stay quiet about it.

Sustainability is thus overlooked as most mitigation strategies only address ‘that problem, at that moment in time. ’ Concerns about the use Sustainability in Climate Change Adaptation The concept of developing sustainable climate change adaptations is oftentimes, flouted by most governments including the IPCC. At that moment, policymakers and businesspeople care less about the importance of either social and/or ecological sustainability; all that matters is the financial benefit of the project in question. Technology has been used to automate systems that ideally help maintain a predetermined trajectory in business. For instance, the government has set policies that influence the banking systems in the countries like the US and the UK. Highly advanced technologic systems control and regulate the operations within the industry. This level of commitment ensures a sustainable course towards a set objective.

Therefore, it is essential for underdeveloped countries to consider globalization as an opportunity towards sustainable climate change adaptation. Not only does globalization affect the surroundings but its dependence on the environment directly affects its direction and its quality. Since people started noticing the change in climate patterns, so much effort has been put in the study of sustainable climate change adaptation. Consequently, both developed and developing countries have often agreed on ways to mitigate climate change. The policy to form a sustainable system is usually unanimous around the globe. Globalization is thus evident on a regional level through the exchange of knowledge and information, ease of migration from one nation to the other and technology. Non-governmental organizations (NGOs) help maneuver proceeds from globalization to the local level. However, there exist barriers of globalization in every country such as politics, culture, language difference, and religion.

In spite of that, globalization is still manifested in every community. NGOs act as the facilitators of an even platform where all players such donors and beneficiaries pursue a common objective. An internal approach to enforce an adaptation strategy promises best results than a forceful approach even if it’s for the betterment of the society. Reasons why this Issue is Important to the Writer and the Entire Society. Climate change control and its adaptation is critical to every society because it determines the survival of the same. Through climate change control, it is possible to manage and rehabilitate disaster-stricken areas through reforestation, water harvesting, and irrigation. A sustainable climate change adaptation means that the community is guaranteed of survival even after the disastrous events following climate change. Both the participant and the non-participant in air and water pollution suffer equally in the hands of deadly weather events.

In spite of the fact that non-developed countries contribute minimally to global warming, they are never spared by the rise in temperature. As a matter of facts, they tend to suffer more climate change adversities than countries such as the UK, France and the US. The use of rigid authority is needed to control the energy sector, mining, and other natural resources. This will help control the emission of greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere. ed. managing the risks of extreme events and disasters to advance climate change adaptation: special report of the intergovernmental panel on climate change.
