Document Type:Coursework
Subject Area:Business
The sector is very essential in sustaining and maintaining the competitiveness and productivity of the country’s economy and thus there is a dire need to have a good network as well as infrastructure of the road haulage system which works for the citizens. The availability of the basic commodities and commonly used goods depends on the availability of road haulage systems. It is important to note that without the trucks, people would have a challenge of accessing food stores, water storage facilities, schools as well as places of work. There exists a lot of demand in the provision of services in the haulage sector since according to statistics, out of all the goods transported in the Great Britain, the road haulage moves approximately eighty nine percent.
It is hover good to point out that even among the remaining percentage, there will also be a need to complete the journey using roads to their final destinations. One of the companies operating in the United Kingdom Haulage sector is called AMCO Logistics which is based in the country but whose operations extent to many other countries. AMCO Logistics is a warehousing and transport firm which has been operating in United Kingdom for more than eight years. It was founded in 1998 and deals with distribution of retail goods, food and beverages, heavy haulage via heavy transport and low-loader trailers and offer Just in Time deliveries. They are located in Block 4 Unit 1&2, Walton Road Drake low, Burton on Trent, DE15 9UA and are part of the freight management European limited group.
The operations of this company can be discussed further by a detailed discussion and analysis using the SOSTAC model of marketing. According to the model, the firm should clearly state where they want to be. In the strategy, the marketers should come up with ways of achieving their objectives together with tactics where they state what exactly needs to be done to achieve the goals. The action defines the firms’ plans while control tries to measure the progress towards achievement of the goals. Since it is a model, the SOSTAC approach should be applied very well in the marketing ventures. In the first place, the firm needs to use the model to review their progress. It acts as a register of performance.
It is like a guild to remind the workers on their progress. If they have not reached where they had set, the control sheet will interpret that they are behind time and thus they are going to adjust. The structure of the AMCO logistics company can as well be analyzed used the SOSTAC marketing model (Hylén & Chong, 2013 pp 52). This will give an elaborate analyzed based on the relevant theories as the content is in line with the titles of the model. With the adoption of the new technology and to conform to the emerging trends in the transport sector, the company has ensured all her vehicles are tracked with the latest software which enables provision of real time updates about the geographical location of the freight at a particular time.
AMCO logistics has one of the best systems to give real-time updates on the progress of the cargo in shipment as well as providing collection and delivery of goods in time. The company has also had an opportunity to work with some of the world’s leading company brands hence gaining more experience in the market to work towards achieving optimum customer satisfaction. What is the current situation of AMCO Logistics? The AMCO Logistics should however not use a lot of time in analysis within a plan but instead spare time for setting the strategies. There should be a balance between the two factors. The company’s marketing team should make sure that any idea discussed should be implemented to the latter stages so that change is witnessed.
The SWOT analysis tool should be applied in the correct levels either at product-line or product level instead of the whole company. For the model to be very successful, it should be used together with other strategy and marketing tools such as PESTEL analysis, USP analysis, Core Competence Analysis or competitor survey so that they get a broader perspective of the situation at hand. AMCO Company has a sector specialization. In the rail sector, the company has for the last eight years been in the market providing warehousing and transport services to the rail sector in the United Kingdom. The mutual relationships help introduce the small companies to establish networks and connections with a wide variety of trade businesses out there.
It is also an opportunity where the small retail comp0anies can learn from those who have been in the business. From the mutual interactions, the small firms know the kind of challenges to expect and possible ways of evading the challenges or solving it when it comes (Hooley et al 2012 pp 89). This has given the upcoming businesses a learning platform after which the companies get motivated to venture in the market. The AMCO Logistics Company also has its transport systems made in a way to meet any customer’s demands. It also guides leading team dealing with the formulation of the objectives which are measurable, realistic and achievable. In SOSTAC model we will still need to look at the process of achieving the desired goals.
In this discussion, we determine how the company can move from where it is and be where it has planned to be in the near future. Strategies involve the laid down procedures and routines which when adhered to and implemented by the company will help in its realization of its goals. A SWOT analysis needs to be done to identify and try tom establish solutions to both internal and external hindrances which hinder the company from performance (Hooley et al 2012 pp 89). PESTEL analysis refers to a marketing approach used to monitor and analyze the macro-environmental factors which in this case refers to exterior marketing environment and which bring change to the performance of the organization. The PESTEL framework is used to identify the weaknesses and threats and the ways a government influences the economy of the country.
Some of the ways in which the government can intervene in the economy includes use of tax policies, environmental laws, trade restrictions, enacted government policies, foreign trade policies and political instability in the global markets. In most cases, the approach has found that political stability or instability affect the interfere with how business is conducted. The business world need to respond to both the existing and the anticipated future legislation and make changes in their marketing policies. The analysis further outlines the technological factors which also have a significant impact on the way marketing is done. However, we all know of the technological advances in the late twenty first century and how its adoption in the business world is totally changing how businesses used to be con ducted.
According to the PESTEL model analysis, technological factors affect the business, marketing and management in three distinct ways. These are; provision of more efficient and effective ways of how goods are produced and how services are delivered, changing the way goods are distributed all over the world with the emergence of heavy commercial lorries as well as introducing new ways of communication in the target markets. The technological factors have also seen AMCO Logistics company come up with a system of monitoring the progresses of cargos under shipment. These can be optimized using various key performance indicators. There is need to build awareness on the type of goods and services offered by the AMCO Logistics. The firm needs to have an active website where they will drive their traffic.
In the website, there is need have a team working to convince customers to take the next step. There reaches a point referred to as convert, where users reach the conversation point followed by the engage stage. After successful analysis is the structure, the company should now go back to identify the weaknesses and opportunities available in the new market failure to which they will risk making loses and possibly failing to cope in their new venture. The best way to identify the weakness and opportunities using the SWOT analysis. The Poster’s Five Forces. After determining and analyzing the strengths, opportunities and weaknesses before joining the market they should consider getting insight knowledge about the competitive forces and thus determine on how to maximize their profits.
This is however done through the use of poster’s five forces. In case of any losses, damages or delays, the AMCO Logistics should be quick to apologies. This will give their clients confidence and wins their trust. How the company products and services are advertised to the public will also determine how the company will survive in the completive world. The five forces which the company should consider analyzing include; 1. Competitive rivalry where the AMCO Logistics company should get the list of the companies already in the market, determine how many they are and then analyses their specific weaknesses and strengths. The buying power increase when a company increases their customers although dealing with few savvy customers has power also.
Analyzing the threat of substitution where the company should consider the possibility of the customers getting the same services from other sources (Kotler & Armstrong, 2016 pp 37). If there is a country where the supplies automotive are manufactured, then it will not be wise for AMCO Company to venture in the market, lest they will risk making losses. The cost of operation may surpass the cost incurred to locally distribute the goods and products. In case there a substitution, it will pose a threat to the business and lead to losses. A company venturing in another country should sets clear goals and run a marketing campaign to establish themselves. Any progress should start with the success of the members within the organization or firm.
