The king has outsold several of his contemporary writers although literary critics have always displeased regarding his work. In the king's novel, Salem's Lots displays vampires in a negative mode which far from loves them as the readers are pleased when they see them being demolished because of committing monstrosities. Also, the king has written about his favorite themes from the novel. It can be said that the king is a visceral conservative as he examines and accepts thoughts that evil is simply an inexpugnable part of one's real life. The king argues in his novel that evil mainly has the existence of its own based on a predominantly liberal and secular America. In some parts of the novel, brings several creatures to lives which have lurked within the town of Jerusalem.

Additionally, the story takes one through a twisted plot that has a vivid character as well as crazy turns it contains. The king makes things so unrealistic to be very real, and he is termed as a gothic literary by several scholars. Cookie Jar is among the newest short stories by Stephen King.
