The New Strong Willed Child review

The gives a story of a child that develops to be active and mature adults. One of the characters, a young man presents a poem to Dabson on his childhood. The writer alludes to several families, some having the best working strategies for their children and other having none. The book is classical to the modern parents and children and generally the new generation. The book gives a unique insight into how best to advice the children. Siege would not get out on cold mornings to bring the newspaper, could not bring the ball to children. He declined to get involved in any program apart from what himself initiated. Sigmund was not only stubborn but also a coward. He could not get to himself even when there were attackers in the compound.

The writer gives an instance when at the middle of the night a prowler entered the backyard at around three o’clock. The book asks the question why the children who are strong-willed become right temperament. The book observes that these children are more likely to disobey their parents. These children are found to be in a mission to establish who is the toughest. The children link this to the popularity of most superheroes such as Spiderman and Superman. The writer explains these by giving an example of children, whenever one gets into a new school; he/she has to engage in fights. I had an experience with my son who at the age of 13 years thought that we were against him when we declined him from going out with his teenage boys.

The imagination was that if we loved him, we would not deny him getting out. Just like the writer’s experience, our son at just three years, he had already developed defiance. He has started to disobey the mother. His talks had changed and started being arrogance to the mother and anyone around him. His daughter was in kindergarten and from time to time she had complained of harassment by colleague children. These bullies are very aggressive despite the efforts of the teacher to calm them. Application of the content Through the knowledge acquired from this book, some things are learned about the friendly ways of bringing up children. This lesson that I have learned would probably be useful to all parent.

To begin with, I understand that only God is perfect. Instead, parents should guide them appropriate on adolescence and show them the importance of growing spiritually. As the parents exercise their power and authority over the children, they should do so with love. I realized that children become unruly as they harden up. Parents over dominance to the lives of children make them develop fear and incapable of making own decisions. Extreme lack of parental guidance can as well be harmful to the children. The book notes that some children are born easy going and compliant to rules whereas others are born resistant. However, a proportion of the children develop characters as a result of their environment. How can we define a strong-willed child? In this study, it is evident that all of us have inborn self-will.
