These principles are customer service, respect for the individual, and striving for excellence. Usually, the company code of ethics outlines the mission and vision of the organization as well as act as a guide for the professional running of business affairs. This includes how professional should approach business matters, the ethical standards within the organization, the core values of the organization, and business ethics. In Massmart + Walmart, the code of ethics is understood as the belief that has given the company a unique identity and defines the entity. The culture within the organization is to ensure people save money and live better. Notably, whenever a company fails to meet the legal requirements causes severe consequences for the firm. The implications of non-compliance leave the firm vulnerable to lawsuits, fines, or complete closure of the business.

Several safeguards have been implemented and articulated into the Massmart + Walmart code of ethics. First, the firm shows legal compliance because it does not hire individuals without work permits in the jurisdiction where they seek employment. This includes serious assessment of the identity and verifies the details before hiring. How Employees Raise Ethical Concerns Ethical issues can result in massive harm of the organization is they are not addressed appropriately. In order to address the touchy issues in the workplace, it is essential for leaders to formulate policies that support the reporting of issues within the company. The code of ethics allows the workers to report ethical concerns professionally without harming the organization. There are numerous resources articulated in the code of ethics aimed to assist workers to raise ethical concerns.

The open door communication process is appropriate in voicing the concerns to the manager. Second, when it is established that the behavior is unethical, gather all the findings and facts to prove that the behavior is unethical. These two aspects are essential before deciding to file a report with relevant authorities. They warrant possession of all relevant information before accusing an individual to unethical behavior (Dishman, 2015). The Process of Whistleblowing Before an individual blows the whistle on certain unethical issues, there is a process that must be followed to effectively report and address the challenge. First, it is essential for the whistleblower to possess evidence that an individual has violated the policies or laws governing the organization. This Act ensures that employers are unable to discriminate or discharge individuals for offering information about the organization.

This form of protection is equally supported by the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002 (SOX) as companies are prohibited to threaten, discharge, suspend, or harass individuals giving information about unethical conduct of the organization (Shimabukuro &Whitaker, 2012). The rewards and protection increases the expense of interfering with evidence. This is because rewards programs promote ethical behaviors through discouraging and destabilizing of bribing schemes (Sullivan, Ball, & Klebolt, 2011). Disadvantages While there are numerous benefits from the reward scheme, there are equally several disadvantages that outweigh the potential benefits. This includes the state when an organization repeats a crime after being indicted within a specified time. The third culpability factor is the obstruction of justice. This occurs when an organization willfully obstructs, impedes, or encourages the obstruction of justice during the prosecution, investigation, as well as sentencing stage (United States Sentencing Commission, 2015).

Conclusion The code of ethics is designed to assist an organization, mainly its workers to conduct business with integrity and ethically.
